2003

This game lives and dies on its sense of style. The shooting, stealth and story are average at best, but it's presentation is top tier. A true cult classic. Shame about the remake.

Stupidly straightforward, and stupidly fun. The best destruction system in all of gaming brings real weight to your actions as you blast through an utterly forgettable story. The best game in the series hands down.

A tough to stomach meditation on violence and responsibility. Average gunplay is excused for the richness of the narrative. Hasn't necessarily aged super well, but by the standards of its time remains sharp.

You have to give them credit trying such an ambitious idea, and I do. Sometimes the system works and creates memorable moments. Most of the time, it just makes things awkward and stiff. The story remains just as messy but lacks the fun tone and interesting personalities to make up for it.

The hacking system shows off it's full potential in what is essentially a lite immersive sim. The story is extremely unfocused but provides fun missions and likable characters. Just a great time.

This game had a troubled development and it shows. The hacking system presents lots of new gameplay opportunities, but never really gets a chance to shine. The story has a lot of interesting lore and ideas and chooses to focus on the least interesting parts. Over all it's an average Open World game with a few decent ideas and a fair attempt at deconstructing the idea of vigilante justice.

Eh. Continues the great world design by virtue of the same map, and the gameplay... well it's Far Cry, come on you know what to expect. The narrative continues to not do anything with the ideas it has, preferring to focus on (flips through script) radioactive super fruit. Gives a little bit of closure to 5's weird ass endings, but otherwise pretty forgettable.

The only Far Cry game I've finished. Combat and gameplay are still much the same as previous entries, but 5 sets itself apart through its world and mission design. I really felt like I had ownership over my journey through Hope County. Hope County is a great setting let down by extremely underdeveloped themes and characters. Alongside that, you have Ubisofts typical centrist jockeying, which helps no one, least of all the game.

Smoothie time.

Without question the best Transformers game. A surprisingly strong narrative bolsters a campaign full of variety and crunchy combat. Manages to make transforming useful without making it Overpowered. The multiplayer was fun too. Ending is a bit weak.

A fast and frenetic multiplayer shooter that backs up it's clever gimmick with solid movement and satisfying gunplay. Manages to scratch that Halo style itch while standing on it's own. The only major issue is the small selection of maps and weapons, but given time these issues can hopefully be fixed.

Well this sure is a... WEIRD one snare drum laugh track. In all seriousness though, it's alright. It manages to build an in-depth isometric immersive sim, and on top of that provides an altogether decent story. Yet there really isn't much else on top of that foundation. The majority of side content is Bethesda style randomly generated fluff. Combat never really evolves past firing wildly into crowds. There's very little reason to explore beyond the critical path. A lot of the systems (particularly upgrades) go unused. Controls are awkward whether you're playing on Keyboard or with a controller. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, great even, and I'll never turn down a new immersive sim. I just wish there was a bit more immersion to the simulation.

A literary RPG far more evocative and meaningful then most games dare. If you only ever play one game in your life, play this one.

A satisfying looter shooter given greater context through a well written and actually quite funny story. Probably the best game in the main series.

Fun, fast and frenetic arcade shooter. Controls great and movement is snappy. Just wish it was a bit longer.
