An exciting hybrid of 2 classic computer game generes - action skating and dynamic shooter. This is what is needed in the current gaming world: a perfectly balanced game that doesn't reinvent what is already great nor mixes all the generes together, hoping that the outcome will please everyone. The rather steep learning curve of Rollerdrome can be quite off-putting for a casual player, but the joy from facing and overcoming challanges is worth the effort. Simple graphics, a groovy soundtrack, a brief yet memorable narrative, and the retro vibe - everything seamlessly melds to create such a unique style. And on top of that - the gameplay - firing a grenade launcher while executing mid-air spins in slow-motion, then effortlessly gliding on roller skates? Just an amazing and refreshing experience.
Truly a perfect detective game! Starting with nothing more than few scenes, dialogues and pictures enhances the sense of unraveling a great mystery. Initially, the amount of information can be quite overwhelming, but as you progress, you'll come to appreciate your problem-solving skills, while matching names and fates of the crew members to their corresponding faces in the pictures. Additionally, the sailor-themed story set in the early 19th century brings a unique atmosphere, not often found in games to this day. Another remarkable aspect is the unique 1-bit graphics, which might initially cause a slight headache, but altogether match up really well with a overall theme of the game.
