Pretty decent for a game made by one person but at the end of the day it’s just another forgettable puzzle platformer.

Neon was the best of 3 superpowers in Second Son, and in this game, they basically took the neon ability and made it more powerful and faster, resulting in a game more fun to play than the original.

Driving a truck around a small town listening to the radio, delivering mail, get to know the people. It's mundane, but the mundanity is what made the game memorable to me.

Probably one of the rare cases where the game would have benefitted from being longer. At the end of the game I felt like I was leaving the town just as I was starting to get used to it. I wanted know more about the people there, how their lives pan out, but the game just got cut short. In a similar vein, I didn't like both of the romancable characters so I decided not to have a relationship with either of them and I think I might have thought differently if I had more time to get to know them and slowly build the connection.

Kind of plays like a game from 360/PS3 era. I don't see it as necessarily a bad thing but other people might think differently I guess.

DLCs feel like they should have been the part of the main game to begin with.

Interesting idea, not sure about the execution. At some point it just felt like a chore. Didn't hit me emotionally as much as I expected unfortunately. (low 6)

There's a lot to like in this game.
Lovely art design (I really like character animation especially), great soundtrack (by Japanese Breakfast, I really need to revisit her discography), open world that's not intimidatingly huge and is fun to explore. Also I think it was a good decision to do away with combat and focus only on exploration.
The story where you see the world, meet people to contemplate and decide who you really want to be really hit home because of where I'm in right now in my life. The game basically lets you freely decide how you want to proceed, and it felt like a perfect way to tell the kind of story the it's trying to tell.
It's a shame that the game is plagued by technical problems (at least on Series X) like constant stuttering, framerate drops, music and sound effects keeps cutting in and out etc. which keep it from being a pleasant experience it could've been.

Really liked the characters and the interaction between them, especially how the game handled the romance.
Unfortunately, the gameplay loop is quite dull and repetitive and I had to force myself to keep playing solely because of the charm of the protagonists.

Great environmental design. The characters, not so much, the animation is not very good to the point where it just feels uncanny every time the charaters start to speak. Also I have to wonder why the developers thought that changing the texts in things like signs and posters to English was a good idea. The dual world system felt a bit pointless as it came with a hit on the graphical quality and the puzzles involving it wasn't particularly engaging or inventive. If anything, I think this would have been a better game if it did away with puzzles and focused more on walking simulator elements, letting players just enjoy the atmosphere and story without all the busyworks.

But the thing is that the story is a mess. There were points (including the ending) where I was easily able to predict what's going to happen next but this wasn't bad enough that I still wanted to keep playing to uncover what's happening. The biggest problem was how the game handled it's main theme, abuse. The game seemed to be more interested in making an excuse for the abuser's actions or even making players sympathise with them while portraying the abuse victim as someone who created this mass murdering monster that can only be stopped by killing the creator. Just leaves a sour taste in my mouth the more I think about it.

The story feels like it was written by some 12 year old kid, subpar music, moving around the world map is a chore, constant framedrops that make it almost impossible to play in higher difficulties, and talking about difficulty, there's no difficulty curve whatsoever. You just go from really easy tutorial tracks to the tracks that bombs you with notes in like 2-3 songs.Well at least you don't have to hit only a part of the notes to finish a level so there's that.

Overall pretty nice, but it also felt like it was kind of in awkward place, as in I think the game would have been better if it were longer or shorter and/or mechanically more complex or simpler.

It was starting to get interesting then… you expect the balloon to explode but it just… deflates.

Wish I could like this game more because there’s a lot of interesting gameplay ideas there and I also really liked the wacky story and characters and atmosphere… but with clunky control, repetitive structure, it’s just not very fun to play. But on the other hand this game is full of charm even with all of its failings…

The more I think about it, the more I get confused…

I quite liked the game at first and some part of the story actually managed to make me cry which is rare when it comes to videogames.

But as the game progressed, there was just too much things I had to manage, too many characters to look after and at the end of the day the game felt like a chore that I just wanted to be done with it. I think the game would have benefitted from having less busywork, less characters but with deeper character development etc.
