Story is easily the weakest of the franchise and given how FEs story quality isn't the best on average this is saying a lot. The reason for this mediocrity is largely due to its presentation: There barely happens anything for the first two thirds of the game, its just characters running around trying to accomplish their goal and being stopped by obstacles which then forces a battle to happen. Around the two third mark, a major event happens which causes the story to actually move and be somewhat interesting. By the time this happens its a little bit too late, as the game basically goes from 0 to 100 with how much it wants you to care about the story all out of a sudden. This is best examplified at emotional moments: the game really wants to make you feel emotional at certain points of its endgame. This fails however, due to the game not being able to make me invested in the story or characters enough to care about these scenes. Emotional scenes must be earned to feel impactful, and Blazing Blade sadly fails to give the foundation for that narrative impact to work.

Gameplay is decent. It is GBA FE and that foundation is solid enough so it cant go wrong even in its worst incarnation. Most of the infamous bullshit maps aren't THAT bad, with only one of them really deserving its infamy. The idea of dancers being able to buff their allies is really cool and I wish more games in the series did that.

Good game and geniunely really fun but man is it a slog to play through at times. Maybe this is a personal thing tho, as I prefer SRPG maps that dont last two-three hours to clear lol.

Also honestly, this game caused more damage to the fandom than any amount of Three Houses discourse ever did.

Lovely prose and presentation but the game ends right when a lot of it's plot starts moving. It's also political. Like I get "all art is political" and what not but this game is like, very vocally and aggresively about enviromentalism and fighting against systems that try to kill the forest so if you just expected a fun werewolf choose your own adventure game prepare to be shocked.

Half score off for the misogyny/gender essentialism and Bey's casual usage of the R-slur.
Other than that I really enjoyed it. Easily a contender for my favorite visual novel so far

My go to "pick up and play" game.

This game was my childhood ngl

2003

You guys do not understand how much I loved this game growing up.
It was to the point I had to buy an used copy because I played the game so much it couldn't be played anymorer. If that makes sense

This was one of my first games as a kid so I'm biased.

This is the most middle of the road Fire Emblem game there is.

It's not bad and honestly all around decentish but it also isn't like top tier masterpiece in any way shape or form.

The more I think about it the more I feel I'm looking for a game that makes me feel the same wa Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 made me feel when I was like 11 years old with an immersive world, loveable cast of characters and solid story that keeps me hooked.

I'm afraid I'm too old and my brain is too developed to get any kind of experience kid me had with PMD2 which saddens me because I legit loved that.

Pokemon Legends Arceus reminded me that Pokemon games could be fun actually.
Also holy shit is this game immersive and having some solid worldbuilding. That along with it's vibes would be enough to give it a high score but the gameplay is justa cherry on to p of a sundae.

Yes Spamton G Spamton is my favorite character how could you tell.

Played the game in fall 2021, enjoyed it to the point I got addicted to it, got stuck to the fucking Byakko boss fight, finally defeated it and evil Nobunaga, forgot to save which resulted in me dropping the game. Still god tho

Honestly this is on par with the first game as far as immersion and writing goes with even greater presentation but the one thing that lowers my score is that I tried to go completionist mode and get every single one of the endings which does NOT translate in having a good time as it's pretty much the same experience except you either do or left out doing one particular thing, which ends in the epilogue dream being different. And honestly given the games nature I feel its best you just experience it all at one go rather than try to hunt the endings. Tho if you want to hunt the endings savescum lmao.

If it wasn't for that the game would easily be better than the original haha
