Pinball meets metroidvania. This game is adorable, and way better than you'd think it would be. The pinball works pretty well, and the premise of being a dung beetle mail carrier is something that is wholly unique.

An incredible reboot of a beloved series. The combat is super satisfying. The story is captivating. The direction of the game is unique and works. The transition from top-down to over-the-shoulder worked wonderfully. I can't wait for the sequel. The only thing I disliked, but I think the sequel will make up for it, is that the epic boss fights were few and far between, which isn't something you expect from a God of War game.

I applaud the effort, but this game is pretty bad. The voice acting is trash, and the general gameplay isn't great. I'm happy they switched to a platformer-based game with It Takes Two, because that game is so much better than this one.

This game is pretty decent. I enjoyed the hand-authored levels more than the digging-my-own-path sections of the game. Has a lot of charm.

One of the greatest games I've ever played. I completed everything in this game except for the Golden Strawberries. 2D Platformers are my favorite genre, but I'm very picky about how I want them to feel. This game nails it. From a level-design perspective, this game is incredible. The fact that the only special move you learn in the game is the dash, but each chapter is able to introduce new mechanics through the environment is something to be applauded. And it manages to tell a story about anxiety that is approachable for people who don't have anxiety to empathize with the main character, but also treat the subject with the respect that people with anxiety can appreciate. This is a special game.

I'll never understand the hype surrounding this game. It plays like ass. I beat 4 of the bosses and bailed.

This is the best walking simulator. The vignettes you play through are wide in their variety, and each of the individual stories hits hard. There are multiple vignettes that I still think about today, but the fish one is SSS tier. This game is an incredible piece of art, and I hate the the "are games art" debate.

I don't suffer from depression or anxiety, so I didn't understand the hype for this game. I thought it was pretty boring, and I literally fell asleep while trying to finish it.

Another absolutely bonkers campaign that is a must play for anybody who enjoys first person shooters and a story based campaign. This game is filled with "did they really just do that??" moments, and it's awesome.

Oof, this was a disappointing sequel. The lack of an engaging narrative left me wandering around doing nothing and eventually giving up on the game entirely. Also, as much as I enjoyed the Nemesis System in the first one, this time it felt like they were really shoving it into your face. Seemed like every 5 seconds you were running into a Named Orc, which would cause the game to take control for a cutscene, and that got annoying.

A cute puzzle platformer game, but nothing incredible. The puzzles were pretty clever, but there's nothing in the game that takes it above and beyond

2017

Better than average adventure game in the vein of Zelda. The dungeons and overworld are really cool, but the combat is too simple. Also, bugs and glitches were not in this game's favor, a few of the areas would dip into single-digit framerates and made the game really hard to play at times.

A welcome expansion to Uncharted 4. Chloe is a great character and deserved her own game. The Indian mythology backstory is great, and the gameplay is as tight as ever. The mini open-world section was a cool change of pace, but also not too big to overstay its welcome. I don't remember much of the big action set pieces of this one, but I think I'll replay this one some time soon.

Same story as The Division: all of the friends I play with have other friends that they also play with, and outleveled me, leading me to not wanting to play by myself, so I ended up dropping the game entirely. I don't remember much of what I played, but I'm sure at the very least the gameplay is satisfying.

My least favorite of the Supergiant games, but obviously a labor of love. I got through my first Liberation Rite, at which point the game opens up and becomes "just play til the next Liberation Rite is available," which lead me to dropping it. For most games, I need more of a sense of direction and progression to keep me playing. As is tradition, the soundtrack bangs.
