A lovely little detective game that's tightly designed and tells a very neat story of corruption and madness. Gameplay is satisfying and builds on the foundations of Obra Dinn very well to do its own thing

Fairly challenging but enjoyable but one complete run was more than enough. Failed a couple of times getting there but the game never really felt unfair. The final boss was a nail bitingly close affair. The timeline mechanics add a really nice layer of strategy that make you actively work for wins and outside of combat, the strategic element of picking your battles in the overworld is neat. It's also an incredibly pretty game

Frustrating and punishing. I did not find this game charming in the least. There are scripted events that strip every ounce of progress from you and leave you much worse off than you expect. The characters are all irritating including the king, who you're supposed to sympathize with but comes off as a pathetic loser. After a scripted event that I found out was half way through the game that completely left me close to destitute, I realised I wasn't really enjoying the game. "Misery factory" is what I feel comes to mind when I think of the experience

The game was also fairly buggy when I played it. I'm sure some of the issues have been patched since

Wish the metroidvania mechanics were taken further and the map less confusing. As it is, it's a fairly enjoyable and gruesome game that's quite linear. It definitely fulfills a fantasy that I had to play The Thing from The Thing and rip people apart in horrible ways

What sets this game back HARD is the frustrating difficulty spike close to the end that made me abandon the game completely. It turns what should have been a chill, good looking, unique little game into a brick wall

2020

Endearing, charming and wholesome. A simple but cute little puzzle game with a unique mechanic that's used in inventive, if not particularly challenging, ways with a lovely little story of exploration and following your dreams

Simple and sweet, a love story disguised as a Lovecraftian adventure game with simple puzzles and delightful vistas

A game that's split into two mediocre halves. One, a fairly engaging FPS game that's brought down by poor enemy variety and real stinkers of boss fights and the second, a really beautiful and well constructed but bog standard open world with the usual icons mess. Half baked and underwhelming, this should have spent a little more time in the oven

A fairly compelling story told in a unique way that doesn't quite end well and has a pretty anticlimactic resolution to a gripping mystery

A linear, decent 3D collect-a-thon platformer that plays like the studio's first foray into 3D games which makes sense since they'd been genre diving through 2D games with the Steamworld series but it's not polished or meaty enough to be anything more than unremarkable. It tells a fairly bog-standard environmentalism story and has its usual hero's journey tropes. The core Gunk-sucking mechanic doesn't get much use and doesn't factor in more than just cleaning up the general environment. But in the end, it's inoffensive and enjoyable enough and is quite short so doesn't overstay its welcome

An incredible mystery adventure through a mysterious city with time loop mechanics, compelling characters, a fairly well done story and some good ol' fashioned horror that doesn't quite stick the landing but doesn't overstay its welcome

A fairly nice adventure game that is let down by its muddled message and music that's ironically just not as good as is demanded of a game that lives and dies by the ROCK

2022

A fantastic, surreal adventure that's just vibes. A combination of cyberpunk bayou voodoo vibes with an insane, nonsensical plot that's dreamy and gripping

An excellent Pikmin-like platformer collect-a-thon that's not particularly challenging but is still a polished, delightful and tight experience that ends at the right time
