Could have been GAME CHANGING, BREATHTAKING, and REVOLUTIONARY if not for the awful microtransaction model.

best game soundtrack ever created. the story isn't super remarkable but the battle system, lore, and presentation are all top tier. definitely one of my favorite games of all time and has a super special place in my heart <3

This game is super slept on! The impossible lair as a boss is very creative and the game makes excellent use of a hub world. DKC fans absolutely need to check this out.

There are now multiple better ways to play this. Definitely better than NES metroid, but I still wouldn't recommend it.

Not without its flaws but overhated imo. The charm was clearly still there, even if some (not all) of the level design fell through.

Most of gen 1's problems were purely technical so it inherently improves the experience greatly. It's still a bland story, the route encounter tables are still bad, and the game even prohibits you from evolving pokemon like Golbat and Scyther until after you beat it. It's the remake with the best justification for existing, but it's middle of the road in terms of quality of pokemon games.

I played this with my older brother - he played guitar, I sang. I remember a handful of songs, like "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Wanted Dead or Alive", but the one that stuck in my head most was "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones. I sang that one time and got to the part where it says "r*pe, murder, it's just a shot away" and my entire family laughed at me for some reason?? because I didn't know what it meant and I was like 5 or 6 years old

This game has aged so horribly and I do not recommend it to anyone

The mandatory inverted camera control gave me cancer.
