amazing game, the addition of nemesis chasing you is great and works really well with RE gameplay and the gameplay and movement itself is so smooth in this game. not the biggest fan of how its more focused on combat compared to 1/2 but its still pretty fun.

Just a complete downgrade over the original, I played this before the og and I knew something felt off about this game and playing through the OG proved I was right.
People always talk about the clock tower section but i didn't realize just how much stuff was cut especially all the cool moments in the original where you get a choice that makes scenes play out differently
Im still shocked at how capcom took an already short game, cut out like 30% and thought it would be alright to release it like that. If you bought this at full price you were scammed

It's crazy, I initially liked this game.

The first 3 stages were a solid NES platformer with decent graphics and maybe a little bit of an annoyance but not too bad. That annoyance being the fact that there is zero recovery time when you get hit.

Goddamn this shit went from like a 6 or 7 out of 10 to like a 1/10 when I got to the water level. You absolutely have to play this shit to believe it. It is insanity. The buttons get reversed underwater for no reason, there are fucking tons of bubbles being shot at you with zero way to fight back, you have to dodge a ton of shit that sucks you in and do it with your limited air.

I managed to beat the level then the rest of the game but that blight soured my entire fun with this game. Really disappointed with this one especially with how much I enjoyed it initially.

I have good memories with this game, but it is lackluster to me. I think it takes 1 step forward, but 3 steps back and is the beginning of the downfall of this series to me. Like the first falling domino in the chain.

I love the survivor collecting mechanics in the first two games, but they've made them simply too easy. While they are stronger and faster, they're also basically invincible in this game which makes transporting them almost way too easy and very boring. They try to retroactively change this AGAIN in Off The Record because of this, and fumble the bag there too. I hesitate to say that they are smart, because they can still be infuriatingly stupid. They are just smarter than the previous survivors.

The time mechanic is watered down a bit, less stressful but also a breeze to do multiple things at once. If you thought the first game was too difficult, congratulations I guess.

Chuck is an okay character but is a bit cringe, not in the same good way as Frank, but not nearly as bad as Nick. They humanize him a lot more by giving him side motivation in keeping his daughter safe, but ends up making him a bit of a Serious Sally in a universe where you can fight zombies with dildos.

The map is larger with more to do, but adds in silly post-apocalyptic money mechanics, which can be broken. Terror Is Reality multiplayer is effectively dead today, but all it really offered was button mashing mini-games that could net you more cash if you needed it.

The combo weapons are fun and all, but they end up overshadowing the base mechanic of utilizing anything to kill zombies, which starts to tear cracks into what I think is the identity of this series. Chuck is also extremely fragile and his hitbox is massive for no reason other than to annoy me. Certain items, like skateboards, have been ruined in this game. The plot remains as nutty as ever, which is fine.

The PC port is atrocious and controller support needs to be modded in. There are bugs all over the place, which can make for a miserable experience. In co-op some bosses just straight up go off the rails, and start acting more feral than they're supposed to. Snowflake and her memory leaking numbskull head can suck my balls.

The game's been effectively abandoned on port release, which is terrible on Capcom's part. It sits as a 3 star for me because I can have fun with it, but it's by no means the best game in the series and it's also nowhere near the worst. Play it with a friend, if it'll work on PC.

For every cool thing this game does it throws something annoying as hell at you to make you hate it.
Gameplay wise it's straight up terrible mario maker levels that Nintendo officially released 3 decades before MM released. World's 1-4 are pretty good but the game goes to crap after that.
Playable luigi is cool though.

Sonic deserves better games. I randomly played some Sonic Advance 2 (which I never played before) after I beat Superstars and I was having a blast. How the fuck is this game almost twenty years later so bad?

Levels range from OK to boring/lame design. Music ranges from bad to worse. Boss fights range from worse to pathetic (and they last way too long)

Damn damn shame that me and my girlfriend suffered through this. On top of the issues mentioned, framerate and aliasing abound in the switch version. So many dropped inputs that it made me drop it even lower than my planned grade of 4/10.

Sonic deserves better than this!

Really solid game with an incredible story and great characters on both sides.

Combat is cool but some encounters really sour the game for me, dropping it down to a 7 from a 9 personally.

The remake is better, imo but the ps2 version is still worth your time.

I just wanted to peek inside the game by playing the translated ROM for a few minutes. I did not plan on finishing the game, but here we are. This game is currently about 29 years old and thus even older than me. Playing it in 2023 you will be shocked not only by the graphics (early days of 3D rendering), but by the controls even more. Luckily, I got used to both rather quickly and neither bothered me after the first hour or so. This is a very atmospheric game that lurks constantly between creepy and cozy. I highly recommend refraining from using a guide or walkthrough and instead keep playing as long as you make progress. I managed to do so for about the first 90% of the game and had a blast discovering this ancient world, its inhabitants and many secrets. It is amazing to see that From Software already used hidden doors this extensively in their very first game. Storywise, it is nothing special. You are the good guy that gets stronger on his journey to defeat the biggest evil around. This is the first King's Field game I have ever played and I am genuinely hyped to play the successor.

Great exploration in this game. Really fun to piece things together in this world.

Unfortunately it runs like shit, sometimes making me super nauseated. That alone lowers the score a couple of points.

Played on: PS1 emulator | 100% Competition
General thoughts: Very fun and iterative action rpg with lot's of personality

Gameplay: 3.5/5 - The game is straightforward and simple, you have two means of dealing damage, and your movement is really restricted, so for me the game was very fun from the start because you feel like you depend only on your skill and determination. it was a really fun challenge.

Level design is really well thought and encourages you to always keep looking and investigating every corner because if you do this you may find very cool and unique items.

The monsters are ok, some are really creative, others not so much. but it's ok .

Narrative: 3/5 - Nothing too crazy or over the top, you can tell that they didn't have much time to think about this aspect of the game, but the npcs are very interesting and mysterious, you always find yourself trying to exhaust all dialogues and coming back to check on them. Also they give you hints about items or sections in the game, so that always something really cool to have in a game, the developers trust in your intelligence, and they give you information through little pieces of narrative and dialogue with npcs

OST: 4/5 - I really, really like the Music in this game, it has some type of dungeon synth feel, but with sounds and influences of snes soundtracks. This fits perfectly for a game in which you are navigating through dark corridors and cemeteries

Soul: 4/5 - Taking into consideration all the above points, I think this game has a lot of soul, you can feel the love and enthusiasm that they put into this game.

Visual design / Atmosphere / Worldbuilding 3.5/5: The ambience is great, you immediately get immersed into this world, and you feel like you are investigating dungeons and corridors. The setup is really unique in my opinion. You are a mage warrior crawling through some type of sacred cemetery with multiple levels in which you find royal troops fighting for survival, never seen a setup like this. the only negative thing I would say, is that some areas feel way too repetitive after a while, it would have been a great addition to the game some if you had some type of differentiation or decorations to the places, instead of just changing the color of the wall

Difficulty design 3.5/5: at the star and right after the end, the game can feel a little bit too frustrating but nothing too crazy, I honestly really enjoyed the challenge, and I think it escalates very well.

Nostalgia factor: N/A
