this might be unfortunately the best game I've ever played which makes me uncomfortable because it might only just get this good and only go downhill from here. I don't want to beat it. I don't want to see how it ends. I don't want to accept that it won't be fresh to me like it was on the day I first played it. I don't want that to be taken away from me because games like this only come around maybe every 10 years or so, and that means there won't be many for me to enjoy.

great gameplay depth and engine utilization that creates a benchmark for future open world games. character/story wise, not so much. without many characters that give you a reason to care about the world it can feel hollow

the games story IS the gameplay and the story is excellent

2020

the art and creatively empathetic writing make this a very special game that, unfortunately, has some pedophilic undertones

as time goes on and more complications and anxieties surrounding what game mechanic I'm missing or not understanding, I remember that I just builds a wall and shed and house btw

oen of theh best games of all time

some of the best game design ever and it still holds up next to it's successor. the progression can be so fucking awful sory

the world, characters, and sound design are gorgeous except they serve to cover up a rather shallow experience that shouldn't be expected to be improved anytime soon.

this is the best rpg ive ever played in my whole life and it is not worth playing the original at all. the amount of meaningful content and jaw-dropping twists and turns make it so addictingly fresh and enjoyable. the story in royal is perfect for what it is but still has a lot of the creepy treatment of minors that the original had and sadly doesn't attempt to get rid of any of it.

the worst fucking game ive ever played. the only reason this gets a 2 is because its engine has really enjoyable procedural animation work and fun environmental destruction. also the soundtrack is one of the best ive heard

i dont give a fuck if this game is another unoriginal open world survival game this games story is THE most important I think told in any game. while it contains a lot of religious elements that could make people uncomfortable with how overbearing it is, the religion in this game is able to properly translate just how awful the colonization of the west was.

great story great combat great art direction BAD fucking camera

my favorite game of all time but that doesnt mean it is genuinely good. like it kind of sucks if you think about it logically especially with how dumbed down RPGs got after skyrim. however, only a handful of games even come close to its charm.

i havent played it since the big update months ago. it felt a lot more polished and digestible than new leaf but had a LOT less content at launch.
