An absolute classic of Arcade gaming. Fast paced action, beautiful pixel art, memorable music and voice lines that are seared into my brain.
This is the best game in the series apart from 3 in my opinion.

An improved version of Metal Slug 2 that brings all the components that make up the Metal Slug series excellent to the max.

"Metal Slug X" is one badass game! Building upon the first game and adding a whole new level of scoring, power ups and character switching in game. This all amounts to my second favorite game in the series. The character designs, the in-jokes, the charmingly outdated but creative movie references and just the manic nature of it all speaks to my soul. This is an updated version of Metal Slug 2, which fixes the severe slowdown of the original release. However, there is still a little noticable slowdown from time to time, but not enough to care or even knock the game for it. I love this game! Like many of my favorite Neo Geo releases, it never gets old.

Improvement over the first game just by being slightly better in every department all around. A really great time

Kids these days they don't know about how it was in the 'cade. I used to shove old Billy "Measles" Harwood around in the mall bathroom stalls until he'd fork up the money his mom gave him to buy insulin. Then I'd get a Surge down at the corner with Wick'd Johnny and exchange to quarters. I roughed up lil Billy every other Thursday for about 4 years until he ran in front of a Ford Contour. Poor old bastard. Anyway I still didn't make it past the third boss. I totally got roflcoptered by that Metal Slug. Lost my virginity on this very cabinet though. Awesome.

Metal Slug Anthology review series entry #1:

You can't go wrong with a classic like Metal Slug X. This was my first introduction to the franchise when I was 12 and only had a PS1 with this, The Lion King Game, and Toy Story 2. I'd play it to the end in one sitting, because I couldn't save the game, and thanks to Metal Slug Anthology, now I can, which allowed me to save my progress midway through yesterday so i could finish it today.

I always loved this game, even if I I always end up with my fingers aching after the final boss. I can't think of a flaw, outside of maybe a nitpick with the regular enemies at the end taking too many shots to die.

Metal Slug X is the hard type of way that I like, one that challenges you to stand up again and keep on fighting, and I'd say the franchise as a whole is a staple of run 'n' gun games everywhere. It's fun, challenging, a total riot to play, and it's so satisfying to blow things up using the assorted arsenal the game has to offer.

Played this in the arcade, very fun game, got very close to beating it but ran out of money :(

literally just better metal slug 2, pretty much serves as a total replacement for 2, so just play this instead of that and badda bing badda boom. Pretty much takes everything the first metal slug did and just does MORE! more banger levels, more banger music, more gameplay mechanics like turning fat or into a zombie to change how your weapon handles. Banger game.

Originally played this at an arcade back in 2016, I didn't even know what SNK was at the time but this game was so cool that I held onto the memory of "that video game that looks like a sunday morning comic strip where you turn into a mummy" until 2020 when I finally ended up buying the game for my Nintendo Switch where once every other week I will boot up the game and casually play through it because it's just that much fun to start a round.

I played Commando on Miniclip a lot as a kid, and got blown away when I finally played Metal Slug. Top notch spritework and 2D sidescrolling action.

Metal Slug 2 but bigger & better

It’s like contra but crazier and more stupid.

This was my first exposure to the series and this was certainly a great one! Insane with the difficultly and level design. It’s a very chaotic game to play hardly any down time to be had but still super fun. The awesome weapons and controls helped this game feel fair dispite being super difficult. Really solid campaign I really enjoyed all the levels. The graphics are really great with a charming art style and signature SNK detail.

The Ps1 version also have infitne continues so if your bad at run n guns like me have at it! I didn’t even expect to beat this game. Just picked it up expecting to lose all continues by level 2, little did I know I had unlimited tries.

I competed the game as Fio with 61 continues used (imagine how many quarters lol) I would like to give the game another go and see if I can get through with less continues....hopefully.

A brief but great run-and-gun experience. Faster, smoother, and more chaotic than Contra, for better or worse.

Gameplay: Great
Story: Great (Funny)
Controls: Good
Graphics: Good (for its time)
Length: Great

Metal slug X: Prepare to Die edition ( X?)

Çocukluğum canlanır gözümde. Halen arada oynatır. SNK'nın en iyi işlerinden.

my first metal slug its pretty good

Gameplay - 10
Trilha Sonora - 8
Gráficos - 9
História/Campanha - 8

Nota - 8.75

Any game that lets you play as a pretty girl with glasses and fill a bunch of Nazi aliens with hot lead is pretty good
