Playing this as a kid with no knowledge of the earlier games may influence my opinion, but this game is fantastic. Even now, all of the elements come together perfectly and encapsulate an era of Nintendo that unfortunately seems to be missing nowadays.

Fine, but it's clear this is the first souls game. Most things are executed poorly, but what is good is really good

As someone who is absolutely in love with everything spider-man, is this biased? Absolutely.

Do I care? No. This game is everything I could've wanted

2004

Look, I love Edmund. I really do. I also understand the importance of this game for indie games, physics in games, and edmund's career. That being said, this has aged horribly, and that is the sad truth. I can find some fun here, but not much. I can't bring myself to hate it.

Grossly overhated. A fantastic game in its own right

This is one of the least subtle stories I've ever seen. It fails at being a compelling story and fails at being a game immensely. I love Silent Hill, but this is not Silent Hill.

An extremely underrated gem. This game is fuckin awesome

A short story told very, very, very well that uses the medium of video games to its absolute advantage, understanding the strengths of the medium extremely well to make the story more effective.

I had little to no expectations going in but wow. This is the pinnacle of Classicvania design in every way. I'm a little sad to be done with this style of Castlevania but I'm glad this is the game they ended with

For all of it's flaws, this is the absolute definition of artistry in video games and the realization of a unique, powerful, quiet, and bold expression through the video game medium

Bottom line: for the time, this was insanely impressive and influential. Playing this now, however, it doesn't hold up as well as other Zelda games. It's worth playing for the experience, but it has not aged perfectly.

A genuinely fantastic game that was way ahead of its time in terms of scope

The changes actually change a lot more than you'd be led to believe. Small tweaks completely shift the flow of the game, and couple that with Nintendo doubling down on what made Breath of the Wild work with plenty of new ideas and concepts that seamlessly work together without feeling like a rehash. This is a masterpiece, and this is probably one of if not the greatest duology of games there is
