A very adequate first entry that had some things over it's competition like damage and scraping paint on walls. Even the car sounds were alright too. Graphics are smooth enough first racing game to have anti alaising on a console although runs at 25fps on pal which makes it feel rough to play. The physics feel fine enough but nowhere near realistic as it's contemporarys or as fun as the more arcade competition.A lot of content for its first entry but I unfortunately did not complete this game. As there isn't a final championship or end movie to finish and I felt the game drags really hard with progression. So I'm moving on but I'm giving it a comparable thumbs up but won't be saying hello again. There's nothing holds a unique appeal or character that even early rough gran Turismos had. But that being said it's still not a bad racer just a ok entry

One of da best 3/5 games Eva made. Ona good day I would feel like giving it a .5 more or if extra happy another point but the games just doesn't quite hit it. The polish is the most noticeable thing from animation to game design in combat to lack of content to bugs and so on. The game can feel very cheap at times but I must say this is my favourite souls like ever tbh. So many options in combat although they arguably take too long to acquire and for some reason new game + doesn't give them to you kinda making it one of the worse new game + ever. The game is very endearing to me however. It's a mish mash of so many ideas and not all of them are implemented especially great at all but I find the combination of dark souls like combat with sekiro parrying and uncharted combat with wall running. No way point map that you need to read your self. Lots of side stuff to find decent enough story with some good set pieces with the ips force abilities make it a unique and rough experience that I can help but adore a little

Wow guys it's a very good looking sounding ridge racer on handheld. Oh wait it only has 3 tracks and the rest of the content is DLC. Oh no who's buying the game and why did this series never truly get a comeback it deserves? 5 cars and no campaign of any kind is like doa. Fun game tho

Definitely the better ridge racer 6. It definitely the better out of the hd series it's got more content more customisation and more polish. It does lose a little of the rr Namco style with the HUD and menus. It goes for a more traditional sleek ps3 look which is more functional in the familiar. Ditches the progression system of previous and adds customisation which is semi decent for RR. Physics feel better the graphics (being one of the very few ps3 games that run at native 1080p) colour pallet also gets updated that looks better imo. Loads are decent after installing the game which you get to play an old Namco game while installing is cool. Music is nicer imo than 6. All round just fine for the ending of the series I enjoy the last track being a callback to the very first track in all of ridge racer. Definitely feel like this series got stuck in its past a little to hard for both good and bad. The market definitely saw love and light in grab Turismo and Forza for the Sim craze or need for speed and burnout were peaking in the arcade genre. Ridge racer just didn't adapt the new stuff at all and since the series never had license cars there's no interest from most majority racing gamers out there. Which is sad I do wanna see more from this series cause core ridge racer is solid and easily the most fun thing about it is the driving model and drifting which has been adapted into many a racing games nowadays with nearly all NFS and Mario kart. Unbounded is a cool spin off I may beat but for now. I'll let her rest

Jump to hd come with I'm sure for the time impressive visuals that I'd argue have lost a lot of character now. Some stages at night look great but generally it's kinda a downgrade from v. Runs at 60 smooth. Lots more variety in track layout although the game makes it feel more tedious given the lame colour palletee. Lots of stuff to unlock, progression is unique with multiple tree choices that are cool and I enjoy the bonus of having heihachi from Tekken be a announced. This was really fine and the first ridge racer I looked up to beat the quickest

Two reviews
Depending on how much heart and how much of that kid rockstar is left in you is how much you're gonna love this at all.

HOOOLLLLLLLEEYYYYYYYYY SHIIIITTTTT PEEEEEAAAAAAKKKK. THERES SO MUCH LOVE HEREEEE SO MUCH COLOUR FUN AND CHARCTER THIS GAME KICKS BAYO3 ASS HARD AND ALMOAT ALL OF PLATNIUMS OUTPUT IN THE LAST 10 YEARS THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IVE DREAMED OF AS THAT IDEA IN MY MIND SINCE PLAYING DMC5 AND MGR RISING. YEAHHHH BABEYYYYA. There's definitely room for so much more potential and it's definitely not has the budget like other AAA action games but holy shit it do not matter. There's still so much polish and content in this game that puts the competition to shame in a lot of areas. The depth is actually deeper then bayo3 imo. While at the same time being really good easing you in. The game can expect so much from you it's overwhelming but the tutorials are paced throughout half the game to be very digestible. So much endearing elements in this game from all the robots having unique dialogue when U hit them again. Characters acknowledge sequence breaking and if you leave mid checkpoint as well. So much fucking originality here man. The story and characters won't hit everyone like it's in-between possible and endearing but it definitely hit the latter for me. There's honest to god good humour and banter here that is quick punchy and barely cliche?? Suprisingly??? GIMME MKRE WTF PEAK DROPPED IN THE DAY IT ANNOUNCED? GOTY 2023 I SWAER. PLATNIUMS GAMES WTF U DOIN BRO

minor nitpickes
No lock on:( soft is fine but it still gets confused from time to time and thankfully the game focusing on rythm more rather than positioning so it's not bad just annoying sometimes
Middle of game repeates area but that's to be expected for the scope some cool down timers are lame for me although it's really fast thankfully here. Very few sections that are slow due to very rare instances of unskippable dialogue but no forced walkkiiinnnnggggg:))) otherwise GO FUCKING PLAY IT IDIOT

Peak ridge racer. Peak PlayStation 1. Peak style. Finally a campaign. Finally a physics updates. Feels great. Music is absolutely peak. I really like this one a lot. It might grow on me more. Every aspect of ridge racer here has a massive overhaul and with that a lot more content too

Yup. Pretty good remake. Lots more changes than tlou "remake" story, level design and setpieces along with the inventory all got changes. Some nit picks are the stomp is not as oomfy and the shaking off enemies feels weaker but like it do not matter. This is the definitve way to play this game. Everything that made this game great is preserved and improved if not revamped and reworked. backtracking in this game is smarter and tons of oppurtinitys arise for optional secrets and side missions that are welcome. I dont wanna say a whole lot more but i will say its impressive how well the og holds up. But the spook here is good.

Fuck it. Slide theme on repeat. Nah for tho the fact that not even half of sonics games a decade later can even match the sheer originality and an ambition that this game delivered is what get it's score from me. There is some absolute age to this game. Camera can have angles that are not helpful at all and the games design can feel archaic in some levels like the boi mansion area. Especially with some enemies as well if you get hit once and unlucky you have very little recovery frames and can keep getting hit until unfair death. This is a very small sacrifice for how much it got right the first time. The fact you can actually control the camera is one thing and it doesn't actively fight you as much as the competition is one thing. The non linear design is something that has set the bar for decades now. Where sonic is finally trying it's stab at a similar concept with frontiers and only hitting that success for a few now says a lot to how well this holds up now. Not only are levels themselves are open to many different paths or ways to get to an objective. But the levels usually like to also give you the choice of doing them out of order in some cases. Along with that the level select. The hub. Is one of the best hubs in gaming. Many different secrets to find and with incredibly memorable music that still tugs on the non linear design being able to choose levels at your desire. Given enough stars the game can allow you to skip entire levels of you choose to do so. Something very. Very little games actually get to even try. Movement is fun. Very fun it's easy to pick up but it is equally easy to be cumbersome with but that being said I have faced zero times falling through floor or getting stuck through walls in my hours of hundreds playing this game compared to even many of others of played that released years and years later which would happen within either a hour or two or the opening levels another fact to why I love how little Mario games there is given that there is a great Nintendo amount of polish in this titles to why they take so long. And that polish still squanders to this day on a lot of other games(looking at you sa1/2 06/heroes falling through the void for just playing the game an inch too wrong). The age shows the most here but any experienced player or anyone who knows how to play the games movement to half it's potential gets to gleam and enormous amount of fun from the levels. Where the speedrunning is still alive and well to this day. The music is like probably the most recognisable in the series and nearly of all gaming franchises too that there is another massive point to the charm of the title that I just can't help but adore. And this is coming from someone who never grew up or got to play Mario until I basically left home and highschool for shows a lot to be loved here. If you don't play a lot of old stuff and can't adjust your control mentality to lesser generation polish I can see this being an only ok time. This guy plays a lot of old shit. And I can tell you that controls aside. The competition still hasn't even been able to hold a candle to the structure, music, movement and complete package this game has served many a many of years. There are other Mario games I love more than this but this one birthed all of those in such a child like whimsical way that it's still so endearing to enjoy whenever I come to visit which is often. Also thank fuck there's no stupid story in the way of this one just game game game baby that's what I'm here for

I BEAT IT LETSSS GOOOO

This. This is actually goated. Truly one of the best survival horror games ive ever played and i do not know why i slept on it for so long. First things first the game is very clearly inspired by the resident evil of the time. It takes a lot of what changed in that franchise (all resources can be converted to money, dismemberment and of course the camera) yet absolutely smothers it in an orginal setting and sandwiched with its own ideas and flavour. The game is structured in a mostly linear way with the tram acting more like a start level and end level stop. So some enviroments do get re used but it is actually 0 detriment to the game. The context is that you are on a giant mining spaceship so it makes sense within the world but it also gets to ease the player into comfortable territory for the early levels until its starts to slip that out underneath you and truly goes deeper and more complicated where you alwasys dont know whats gonna happen next. Mild backtracking in the late game that is done so tastefully and hightens the horror rather than bogs down and drags. There are some rough parts here and there that are very little low points since they dont last long and there is some only rare unskippable sequences that do annoy if you die and have to watch but there is little complaint from me overall. The game has a multitude of set peices and fun enough mystery to solve throughout the story. The thing that amazes me most is how well this particular game not only well it holds up in the horror genre but by a game period. The highlight for me is how combat is done. First headshots are not it. Limbs are, you need to actively dismember the enemies to kill them which adds so much challenge and makes this stand out as you litreally have to play this by its own rrules and not what by your familar with. The enemy design absolutely compliments this as well keeping a great sort of variety in how battle partake. Also being an engineer rather than a soldier there is a lot of industrial feeling weapons bar one that is an auto rifle although safe to use is incredibly weak against the enemies weaknesses. The game fucks gow 2018 with it actually comitting to the one shot a hell of a lot harder and smarter, all menus are in realtime within the game as holograms rather than pulling you out to a completely seperate plane of existence. This adds an astronimcal amount immersion that is so impressive right now as of this review in 2023. Onto the remake next, i cant wait to see whay the rest of the series has to offer. I want to give it inbetweeen a 4/5 and a 4.5/5 we will see what future brandon decides

Definitely took me by suprise even though it was heavily mix with frustration towards the end. One of the most competent NFS in the last decade. The style is there. Music is there. Decent library of cars even if low and customisation is mixed like great for some cars and fine for others. My main problems stems from cop cars spawning incredibly unfairly and out of thin air sometimes. Paired with the rubber banding that's probably the most offensive this series has seen. Like cop cars that are just simple sedans can match speeds with lambos going at 300. And sometimes can match throughout a boosting moment too like man it's just not well designed especially given the previous NFS titles doing it right. Especially helicopters being able to spot you through roofs sometimes and seem to just appear midair once there's too little cop cars on the road. Yaya it feels so artificial. Game can also implement the rubber banding if you're doing incredibly well money wise and specifically the person you bet on even if they are under classed they some how rocket on by. Those are my big problems for it but otherwise drifting is fun and stylish jumping feels like a suitable fragile thrill and the new gauge arguably kept me through to the end of the game. Not one I'm gonna return to due to the server lack of events and unique tracks even given the expansive open world but for criterion first game back after battlefield support it's been a flawed but fun distraction being able to live out some street car fantasys:)

As the blurb says. It does introduce a new system of career progression. You finally earn money to either buy or upgrade cars. Sounds silly now but it was really unique for it's time and later would be implemented in nearly every racing gamer later. I feel like this game tries to go for a almost reboot? Like the style tries some grit for the first time, still very arcade like but the colours are far more darker. There's a cool mood to this one and the tracks detail is considerably higher in fidelity and complexity albeit still being just the one. There's more variations than the others as well. I do like it. It doesn't have the immediate accessibility like the last 2 but it finally has that console tailored feel. The grind is a little there if ya suck and the game is a step up in challenge too

Fucking wild Kojima predicted the world 3 months before the world went to shit. The fuck man. This game fucks me up everytime. It scratches a very relaxing yet addictive itch. It's awesome to see an ambitious creator spend millions of Sony money on what is absolutely a delivery simulator and to no suprises not everyone is on board with. But to those who get it. Get it and it's nice to see the sales and recent response show the growth of the game. The directors cut adds a heap of content and gear that I've yet to fully enjoy but the initial hours qol is heavily appreciated. The best way to play even if it is missing monster energy. Truly one of the single most unique games in the last generation even if it's full of rust and dents and cracks. I love it so much, has probably the best multiplayer community I've ever experienced in a game as well. Cannot wait to do it all over again. In the completion category for me too one day
