When it comes to shmups, it's very simple, Caves just the best to ever do it.

Love this game. Almost feels like a remake of batsugun, which tracks as one of the founders of Cave actually did work on this game. I think it's visually stunning and very fun to look at. A friend told me that it was some what satisfying to watch, of course it probably would be a lot more if I wasn't dying every couple of seconds but regardless.

The movement feels great, not too fast not to slow. It gives the perfect amount of control to dodge around the insanity of color circles at you. Shooting is also very intuitive. A press of the shoot button shoots machine guns bullets in a wide range, holding the shoot button create a powerful laser that's smaller and focused. Just these two controls offer a lot in terms of figuring out stats to most effectively kill the enemies. It also has the stable bomb button, but something I adore is how the game rewards you for using the bomb at the right time. In these games shooting off a bomb clears the screen and should be used in an emergency. In this game it does the same, but it turns the bullets into objects to pick up and give points. Incredibly simple and satisfying to do on a boss screen.

Anyways I probably talked to much about a very simple game, but it is an easy rec to anyone who has never played a bullet hell/danmaku game. It's simple enough and challenging, but when you get in the zone with it - extremly metitative.

Magical Taruruuto-kun is based on the manga and anime named the same. It run on both TV and magazine lasted between the years of 1988 to 1992. Due to the fact that it finished publishing 3 years before I was born, and also the fact that I am an American, I've never actually seen or experienced this property. I didn't do much research but I didn't see this get ported over to the states anyways. Even so, I'm not sure if I had if it would affect how I feel about this game, which was not great.

To sum it up, while I'm sure it was graphically impressive for its time, the game play has aged pretty poorly. I think even when it was released the game play felt dated and unremarkable.

The game, Magical taruruuto-kun, was released in 1991. This was a time in the shmup genre where there were alot of experimenting on gameplay mechanic and difficulty. Its a fun period to explore. This game however, is a the pinnicle of why I think the genre fell out of popularity. It is a button mashing mess with very little in terms of availability for experimenting.

While undoubtly the restrictions of the game gear are here, and I will admit I do lack a lot of experience with game gear games, I don't think all the faults of the gameplay can be blamed on it.

To be blunt, the game feels very amateurish to play. It's sluggish with how it controls and moves. As of right now I am not sure if this is due to how the game gear is, or if it was purposefully designed. On top of the player moving slow, the stages drag. Instead of flying through the air, excitingly shooting down books with eyeballs, I feel like I'm chugging through rush hour traffic. In addition to the horrible movement, every single enemy is a bullet sponge. Be ready to do thumb exercises before and after playing the game because you will be mashing the hell out of the B button.

Chances to upgrade only come twice in a level, One at the beginning and one at the end. You upgrade by flying your character into a witch on a broom and shooting at her. You are then presented with 6 choices, Almost all of them are dog shit. It's pretty frustrating seeing all of these choices being presented and there's really no room to experiment. They may as well not put them in there. I would get very excited seeing the witch at the end of the level though, because it meant the level was almost over.

The games difficulty is pretty easy. In terms of shmups I've played, and I am pretty experienced in the genre, it's not very challenging. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone new to genre though as it's extremly boring. The only stages I actually did enjoy were the last two stages. The first level, I found out you can sit in one spot and Mash the B button endlessly and get through 25% of the stage.

The sounds is fine. But I'll be honest, I played this game muted the entire time. I only wanted to hear how it sounded and I could see myself getting a bit annoyed with the charmless blips and loops.

I think the look of the game is its best feature. It's very stylized and charming, but it's charm doesn't last. If you can't tell I didn't really like this game. It was boring, forgettable, and at parts felt like an actual chore to play. You can skip this one if you are looking for a game gear game to play.

This game is rediculous with out the use save states. If megaman wasn't so fun to play this game would be a 2 star.

The last run of bosses are insane. It ranges from fun, to outright unfair. The "boss" where is a room of wall turrets that shoot at you and you can only destroy it with a very energy heavy gun is awful. Excited to see how megaman 3 does

I'm crying and don't know why.

Go in blind, understand you will be confused, but what you need to do is just explore. There is a lot of reading in the game, there isn't any combat.

This game purely relies on discovery, connecting dots between clues, to solve a narrative you are crafting as you are playing. It's a slow burn and I encourage you to give it a few hours to see if it grabs you. The feelings the game gives is beyond explanation with words. If you look up anything you risk ruining the experience by the way, in a way that would completly make it not worth playing.

You can only truly play outer wilds once so take your time with it and enjoy.

I like it. Did a low chaos run but I'm ready to go absolutely insane on another run.

I think this game is really good. Maybe even one of the best stealth world sims i've ever played, but the story doesn't match the gameplay. The combat is unbelievably fun and I'm certain it'll stand the test of time, but the story constantly discourages you to play in a way that's fun. Strong recommendation to play this game, but e ready to have the game do that 2010's thing of yelling at you for killing NPCs because it's fun. 8/10

I have spent 2 months playing this game on nightmare. My fps skills have improved tremendously I'm still playing it, and not bored. This is the doom sequel I wanted when I was 12.

It's really really hard to talk about this game, for a lot of reasons. For a open world sandbox? This is one of the worst i've ever played. The world is completely dead and empty, not a lot of things to really. It's some farcry/ubisoft fight these dudes, do these check points, etc etc.

But this is CDR's best writing and it's got some of their most ambitious game design yet. No, Cyberpunk 2077 is not the GTA but you can have robot arms game that you imagined. It's the afterbirth between a drunken orgy from Deus ex, Dishonored, Bethesda games.

Night City is beautiful, but there's nothing to really do. Yet the game systems allow you to do some really fun things if you get creative with it.

I said the story was good so i'll tackle it here, it's one of my favorite stories now from the cyberpunk sub genre. It hits all the right notes in the right ways for me, dealing with topics that is really ballsy for a AAA game studio to attempt to tackle. I loved all of the side characters and side quests. I also really liked the ending, but I know many people who didn't. Every aspect of the story, well the big character moments at least, will leave something with me. Oh man don't even get me started with johnny silver hand. I was extremely nervous he would be, well just annoying but he's one of the most complicated characters I've seen in a game.

Last bit I'll hit on here a little bit is the music, the games original sound track ripass, but what the hell was going on with the radio station.

Cyberpunk 2077 needed more time to cook in the oven. The longer you wait to play Cyberpunk 2077 makes it so when you do play Cyberpunk 2077 it'll be the best version of itself. This is a game you want to keep an eye on, when you feel its ready to play that's when you should give it a shot. Glitches were non-existent this time I played the game, only noticeable after the last big patch that happened.

Cyberpunk 2077 is either the most average game i've played or one of the best. Time will tell for me, the feelings it leaves me are complicated.

It's like factorio but it gets a bit overwhelming. but not in the good way like in factorio in the bad way like getting lost at a Walmart trying to find the isle they sell lightbulbs and your looking for that one specific light bulb for that one specific lamp.

Also it takes longer to do the things I like, automating. the beginning hours consist of manually shoving fuel into a bunch of generators so you can unlock fossil fuels. The issue is this section of ths game takes up an insane amount of time. It gets boring and it makes me wish to just go back to factorio.

Lastly there are monsters that attack but they are actually pointless. you don't build defenses against them, you just zap em and they are gone. They exist to hinder you and annoy you. this is definitely a peaceful mode game, which is also another negative. I don't just get hot and heavy when the game is letting use my big sexy brains making a factory more efficient. I like having some stakes on the line. The devs have been wonderfully upfront and aren't planning to expand on that aspect and instead are focusing on building, which hey I'm fine with. it makes me realize that maybe this game isn't for me. It's very chill and the building is fun but the expansion doesn't feel worth it in the end like it does for factorio.

The developers are phenomenal and super community focused. They are open about the process of the development and have a lot of love of passion for the project. To have some positives is thst this game has both the best builder and movement system I've used in any game. Well maybe not best movement system, but it's legitimately up there with doom eternal and titan fall 2. There is no reason for the game to be as fun to run jump and move around in.

Anyways yeah, this is a really good game but it's just not the kind of game that's for me. But hopefully it's for you.

2022

Solid game short. Story is fun but endi f doesn't feel deserved.

Shelved - "let's play some final fantasy tactics I loved this game as a kid"

"whew this game got HANDS"

This games so freaking hard, really easy to get your self set up for failure. I'm not smart enough to fully understand the game yet. I'm shelving it to play some other tactics games to come back. The story seemed very promising and I really like the characters so far. It seemed like a real griffith/guts type story.

2015

Abandoned - People will shit post me saying the game was too scary for me but I can not stress how Insanely boring the encounters are. I'm currently stuck in one and I think i just gotta throw in the towel because I just don't have the patience for this hide and seek ass game. I may come back, because despite the walking simulator, the story is probably one of the best science fiction horror stories I've experienced. It props some really interesting things to think about with the consciousness and the soul, but your experience with the gameplay may vary. This kind of gameplay is absolutely not for me, while the story 100% is. I want to finish it out but where I am, and how annoying it is makes me not want to open the game up to finish it.

This is probably my favorite shmup. It's really visually appealing and a lot of variations for play styles. Easy recommendation for new shmup players.

This is legitimately one of the worst games I've ever played.
