Rented this from Blockbuster with no memory card and completed it over a couple of night, hiding the Playstation power light with a sock so my maw didn't turn it off while I was at school. It's good.
Doesn't have the variety or visuals of 3D World but there are some brilliantly designed platformin' challenges, especially the timed and Cosmic Mario chases. One of my favourite Mario games, and I love Mario games. Mario.
Played the PAL version of this for years with no clue that it was waaaay slower than it should be. Mostly we and my cousin taking turns. He'd turn of the Mega Drive sometimes because he was afraid "the music might run out".
This was waaaaay better than it needed to be. Decent on-rails shooter sections and wonderful grounded exploratory combat with satisfying dodges and a difficulty slider that boosts the intensity and loot. An incredible amount of irreverent chatter too, well delivered.
One time my pal Jim played this for about four hours and didn't save because he thought it was easy and then died to some basic enemy and had to start over.
Went in with good intentions and plans for amazing levels but instead spent hours replaying friends' stages for faster times. And that was still wonderful.
A great score attack game. So much of the dialogue is burned into my brain. I still frequently say "Whaaaaaat?!" like General Pepper seeing the invoice because I'm annoying.
