If you’re a fan of Breath of the Wild I think that you should definitely give this game a try. The story might go places that might not fit with your expectations (I personally blame the marketing) but some of that story content is actually pretty great, specifically what it does for the characters. The main character of this story is really Princess Zelda and after finishing this game she has become my favorite iteration of the character.

The gameplay is very addicting and the amount of options you have during combat keeps things very fresh; I never got tired of playing unlike some of the other musou games I’ve played. Although, the frame rate, while you can get used to it, is not good and it makes me yearn for the Switch Pro...please I need it.

Overall, if you’ve heard about the places this story goes and it put you off I’d still say give this a shot. It’s a great game.

An amazing comeback from Platinum in my eyes. As someone that really didn’t like the way Bayonetta 2 went with it’s combat among other things, this is the Bayonetta sequel I have always wanted. The combat in this is amazingly fun, but what I did not expect was just how much shit is in this game.

There’s so many weapons that are all fun to use, so many demons, so many different things to do in every chapter. Hell, every single weapon has its own method of traversal and it makes exploring so much fun unlike in the previous games where I never bothered doing much exploration.

This game blew me away with its spectacle; I had a blast the whole way through. I unironically loved the gimmick stages and I could not stop smiling while playing. If it weren’t for the very middling story and the uninspired enemy designs (everything is just a green glob of goo with not much personality) this would have been a 5/5. Despite that, Bayonetta 3 is an amazing game and it feels so good to be happy with a Platinum title again.

why was this one of the best games I played this year

every scene has like 6 twists in it and i wouldn't have it any other way

I have some issues with the gameplay, it got preettyyy frustrating sometimes, but the story was great, the soundtrack is one of the best ever and I still had a great time playing overall.

cruise ship one of the best maps in history

I never stop thinking about this game.

No other open world game has ever given me the sense of wonder that this game gave me while exploring. While I do believe this game has some flaws it is still one of the best games I have ever played.

Also breaking weapons is a legitimately good mechanic and without it the moment to moment gameplay would not be as good.
