I am always craving for more things in the Weird West genre, and here we have a game that is named after the genre, so I was very hyped for it. Along with the fact it was going to be an immersive sim from one of the Arkane co-founders, it was setting up to be probably really cool. However, I could not bring myself to play anymore than a couple hours.

Most immersive sims are first person with cleverly designs levels with multitudes of ways to figure how to progress. Weird West does have many ways to figure something else, but it lacks the same interactivity that first person I-sims usually have. A lot of the the levels however feel similar to overworld asset reuse, some of them are probably well thought out, but the ones I saw don't reach the heights of its peers.

With the camera being top down it definitely seems like they were trying to be more CRPG/ARPG, and it shows. I don't hate trying to fuse I-sims and the top down perspective, but the gameplay just feels really clunky. Switching weapons feels really weird, along with using powers. Melee is just downright unfun to try to do. All that not even mentioning the most basic combat action of shooting feels terrible.

The story also never really dragged me in. I can see I-sim protags being a blank slate for your many options and paths you choose, but most of the ones I have played, Corvo in Dishonoured 1 is the only real blank slate that I can remember. I only got to the first character in this game and they are literally nothing.

Overall the idea is really fucking solid, but it just plays so clunky with an uninteresting story.

I can definitely see the super early immersive sim going on, everything i recognize and like in newer games except its old and doesn't have (what i consider) upgrades to the gameplay formula. Stealth doesn't really seem like an option, but going hog wild with the dragon sword is real fun. I'll always enjoy a game that lets me do super insane melee builds.

Story is good and surprised me how relevant it is in 2022.

absolutely love the butt rock industrial ass style of this, i just dont like bomberman that much

I dont know, i Just couldn't care about this at all. The open world turns my brain off so hard, and it also just looks so extremely ugly (like the filters and stuff, looks like piss and vasoline and not in the good way).

Elden Ring is a huge change in the Souls formula. The addition of the open world is kind of fucking insane and adds A LOT to it. The sense of exploration is really cool and the amounts of surprises offered is ESSENTIAL for open world games feeling fresh for more than 20 hours. Coupled with that classic Fromsoft combat loop this game doesn't really drag, maybe sometimes, but most of the time I was having fun.

But also, I don't think I like the open world format compared to the tight and compact levels of previous games. I dont think the open world isn't tightly constructed, it might just be the most put together open world I have ever seen, but its still huge. I could run through Dark Souls 1 four and a half time probably in the time it took me to beat this. I don't think THIS game should be shorter, I think the length of it is good, but I probably won't replay this game for years, which sucks because this has the most build variety I actually want to try.

Speaking of, the ashes of war system is really cool, I just wish some weapons weren't fucking locked out of it for no reason(?). I rushed and grabbed the Great Club (btw, this games takes the most work to grab the Great Club so a minus), and I can't change its weapon art. I learned to really like its weapon art, but if I can't change it, that means I cant change its scaling. I got my Club to max and it capped at B scaling, couldnt apply heavy to it to make it A scaling. Like, at least let you change weapon scaling without changing its art.

Elden Ring definitely has some of the peak Boss designs/ideas in From's catalogue. Some of their fights fucking suck gameplay wise, but they are so brain blasted good ideas. I kind of don't like how huge the bosses are, like I do like that they are huge because they really feel epic, but its just kind of annoys me. I don't really care about all the re-used bosses, it makes sense for the asset re-use, and most of them have something special going on.

Lore wise I haven't really gotten anything out of this as much as Dark Souls, that might just be because it just came out and I can't read other people's theories and such, but even then all the main bosses feel so disconnected altogether to me. Doesn't feel that connected to me as DS1.

You must be Voodoo Vince if you think we fuckin

A very chill platformer that looks cool, has a enjoyable protag, doesnt run too long, and has banger music. A lot of platforms feel like I shouldn't be on them though and it culminates in the last few levels where you have to climb on amusement rides (these are terrible and not fun) and climbing the boss (also not fun).

I enjoyed this game as a brain off clicker game. I watched enemies get gibbed into meat chunks and saw my number go up, all I needed. Did not engage with lore/story. The Dual Class thing seemed cool but didn't level enough to get to it. The Devotion system also seems cool but also seems like absolute nonsense if you arent copying a build.

My good friend Zurheide loves this game, just can't do anything else while watching it!

Tried play the Ultimate Edition since I played the original version when I ran through the series before, and was in a Gears mood after Gears Tactics, but Gears 1 is so hard to get into after playing everything else. I don't see a reason to ever go back to 1 really since every game just gets better and better. It also doesnt help that you can't get downed in this game, you just insta-die, very annoying.

Its an enjoyable tactics game, just fun to do missions in. The story is nothing compared to other Gears games, especially with all the forced breaks to do Side missions. The side missions are all right, they kind of make the game drag, but they are still fun to play.

Kind of clunky to play, but still feels satisfying. The individual worlds kind of feel not connected enough to the overall plot to me, but once that plot starts kicking off oh boy, is it Kino. The Story is very simple, and thats good. It did make me hunger for more to be going on, which Im pretty sure does happen. When Simple and Clean drops in at the ending, goddamn, thats masterful timing.

I did not do any post game secret bosses or the Hades cup. Level grinding seems too tedious. Synthesizing also seems extremely tedious.

This game actually kind of whip ass I will not lie. The attention to detail and the fan fare with each character's abilities make me pog so hard. Most of the abilities are basically the same (deal damage from standing/at a range/with a grab), but the animations are so raw. Some people actually have really fucking cool abilities. Gon's Ultimate move is so FUCKING cool.

Yes, all I did was see everyone's moves on practice dummies.

I am kind of pigged that there are only 6 anime stages and its 2 each from Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto.

This seems pretty awesome for actually playing Yugioh. The music kicks ass, the presentation is sweet. It seems to have quite a bit of single player content. It seems kind of fucked to me that there is only 2 purchasable premade decks, and im kind of annoyed with the pack system, but its whatever.

Didnt play any online at all and im fine with that, I like to think about playing Yugioh and cool arch types instead of actually playing it.

2021

Lake is probably one of the least video game video games I have played. I was constantly just going "wow, this is not a video game," and just being in awe of that. I think Lake is probably one of the best "movie" games I have played. Would a movie with a story cut down to feature length be better? Yeah possibly, but this game just offers you the ability to LIVE in that theoretical movie. I was totally immersed in this world. Meredith is me, and my choices are hers. When Meredith was having cute cutscenes with the movie store babe, you can BET i was pumping my fist and yelling "YEAH YEAH YEAH."

This honestly reminded me a lot of Night in the Woods, but instead of being about the anxieties and angst of millennial(?) youth, its more about readjusting your life after you have already lived quite a bit. Is this just a 2 week vacation before you go back to your normal life? Maybe you find out what you've been missing during that time, and realize just how important the things of the past are to you.

The game play is largely unimportant. If you want a game with video game ass game play, you aren't going to enjoy this. You will be driving the mail truck and delivering mail. No sprint button, clunky semi-realistic handling, nothing else to do besides that and dialogue. The radio is kind of repetitive, but that kind of just made me a little nostalgic for when I was in retail and hear the same songs and be happy for when the good ones came on.

idk overall, a warm and personal story about reconnecting with your past and rethinking what you want out of life.
