nails the feeling of a ps1 title more than 95% of all games that try to recreate that aesthetic. a true testament to the clunkiness of that generation but also captures the best of what that console cycle could give.

game slaps and you all are too chicken shit to admit it.

The best pure Survival Horror Game to come out since Resident Evil Remake.
story doesn't match SH2. not even close, but gameplay wise, it's near perfect. it does the "crimson heads" mechanic better than REmake, it's puzzles are brain teasers, it's themes are exuberant of a team who knows how to write esoteric stories and it's just a good fucking game.
definitely worthy of a 5. If i hadn't played Tunic, it would be my GOTY. I may not replay Tunic as much as Signalis however. Signalis is the pinnacle of what makes Survival Horror as a genre so engaging and fun.

roughly 15-20 hours in.

Tentatively a 5 star experience. there are PLENTY of little things about it that are annoying like the UI and some of the space combat, but to b e honest, this game is exactly what i wanted it to be.

Space is the backdrop. it's truly a magical feeling wandering around this world.

- UPDATE AT 55 HOURS-
there are enough little things about this game that do bug me enough to drop the score down a bi, but i have to say that i can sit down and play this game for HOURS at a time for nearly a week straight which is a monumental feat for any game, even TotK didn't grip me this hard for this long. i'm enjoying myself a LOT but things like the GODAWFUL UI and the fact that exploration in the traditional sense is practically nonexistent really do rub me the wrong way.

overall tho, Godd Howard delivered. I'm not even a Bethesda guy, but maybe i am now.

a near perfect adaptation of my favorite board game. i will hold back from a 5 star rating until they release the expansions. but i am surprised as to how well this one works in digital

the one star is because as someone that didn't spend money on it, i got many laughs out of it. also the youtube culture of the late 00's being built around this so strongly means that i genuinely have some good memories with this game.

but it's dogshit. the worst of the worst.

thank fucking christ you can skip all of the dialogue in this.

Zack and Wiki Make A Porno

mainly rating this on not only it's impact on gaming as a whole, but what this game did for me growing up. it was one of the very first games i played where the story made me feel something. it's also an excellent showcase of level design, music, and charm. a classic for all the right reasons.

My favorite of the souls games and i'm not being a troll. there's something about this i can't quantize but it soothes my soul and it's become comfort food at this point. one of my all time favorite games.
it pains me that the team that made it got incredibly fucked over.

Crimesight is an odd one. It's essentially an asymmetric board game ala Among Us but literally made by Konami. It's notable because it's going to be taken offline less than one year after it's release, rendering the game entirely as a dead weight on your steam account. it's a shame too because there are a lot of good ideas here even though the game is absolutely ZONKED in Moriarty's favor... at least it seems to be. i will literally never find out what the meta of this game is.

but as a game it's honestly fun with friends. i think the game suffered most from a lack of promotion from Konami which is a shame because the game could EASILY have been patched to a much more even playing field and now we'll never really get to see what could have been from a game that seems to be created to fail.

i couldn't believe that in the year 2020 when i was playing this again that i was still having just as much fun as i was when i was 11 years old

the entire time i play it i constantly say to myself "there is no way that this visual catastrophe is one of the most fun shooters i've played"

but it's true.

the most meaningful game in my meaningless life
