i was OBSESSED with the little octorok baseball game when i was a kid

this was the first sonic game i ever played. needless to say it didn't exactly set me up for the rest of the series

i didn't finish this until 2 years after i first bought it because the idea of having to face the swift phantoms intimidated me so much that i'd just complete the ghost ship, find out about the phantom sword, and then restart the game. i don't think it's the best handheld game in the series but it was my first and i do still like it a lot

every time you possess something it grows a silly little moustache. i could play a frog with a moustache. it's the little things in life

This review contains spoilers

i have no idea if this game is 'good' but elise dying did make me cry. so.

this is a nice little game but it's probably at it's most playable if you have three people together in a room with it rather than struggling with the statues in single player or waiting around for two other people to join you online, and unfortunately i don't have friends that are enough into zelda for that

adult timeline is the best zelda timeline. it's still absolutely baffling to me that in a flooded land the fish people evolved into birds but the people who canonically sink like a stone in water are just the same as usual

reasons this is the best zelda game:
- stamp collecting side-quest where you get to do the stamping yourself
- absolutely KILLER soundtrack
- when you go on your little train the soundtrack syncs to the rhythm of your engine
- rabbits :)
- zelda is one of the best companion characters the series has ever had. i love having her by my side
- you can make your train go choo-choo, an experience no other zelda game offers
- the final battle slaps
- i first played it when i was 9

this game is rated 12+ in the pal region because the american translators made the australian lady say bugger

this game made me realise that maybe i'm not that good at sonic games

i wish all forest temples a very die a thousand deaths

looking back i don't think this was a good first metroid game for me. i got lost a lot, and i found that frustrating! but i suspect i'll return to it with my Enhanced Metroid Playing Powers in the future...and get lost a lot again

idk if it's just because i never really got the hang of the battle mechanic but i don't remember being super into this one? i'm probably due for a replay once i finally get through my backlog tho

that final master sword trial still haunts me to this day
