2008

Doesn't really hold up, but I wish it did. A Spore game made in 2024 would probably be amazing.

2018

It's somewhat weak from a gameplay perspective as far as roguelikes go, but everything else makes up for it. Art direction, soundtrack, voice acting, all incredible as is standard for Supergiant. I prefer Supergiant's original worlds, but they nailed the Greek mythology theme.

An enjoyable and chill way to spend some time. Not much more than that, but it doesn't have to be.

Surreal, strange, and charming. Short and sweet.

Darkest Dungeon II managed to improve on the best part of its predecessor: the combat. While getting used to the innovations is a bit of a learning curve, it's worth it. A number of skill tweaks and reworks and the addition of character paths give each character multiple interesting and powerful build options. The early game is unnecessarily harsh, but once you have access to the entire toolkit of each party member, it's a blast.

Great game with a lot of flaws. The art style and narrative design are excellent, and Wayne June's voice acting is impeccable. The gameplay loop is quite engaging and difficult if a bit repetitive. The endgame is punishing to the point of tedium.

The life sim aspect doesn't appeal to me, and this game is somewhat lackluster if judged purely based on its roguelike elements. The art and music design are great, though.

The roguelike that all other roguelikes are to be measured against.

The greatest FromSoft imitator out there.

This game is overflowing with love and care. Might not be for everyone, but it was definitely for me.

Good game, but found the gameplay loop somewhat tedious as the game went on. Was never truly captured by the narrative.

Very stylish, very cohesive, short game with simple gameplay but fantastic otherwise. Compelling world. Awakened something in me.
