honestly this is a terrible game and even worse ZE game, but it has moments of brilliance. without saying too much, the reveal for sigma and phi in this game had me repeatedly shouting "WHAT THE FUCK.... DUDE NO FUCKING WAY WHAT THE FUCK". it's a shame that it butchers junpei and akane and introduces the most useless characters in any adventure game ever in the form of mira and eric, but you take the good you take the bad you take them both and there you have my opening statement.

easily the most forgettable and bland ace attorney game, but it's competent. it functions. it didn't break my 3DS when i played it. that's gotta count in this game's favor, right? at least a few songs from the OST slap. i've played this game twice and i've got very little to say about it beyond "you can pay money to play this game".

definite return to form from the general downward trend that the AA series had been on. this game convinced me that the ace attorney series still has juice in it worth squeezing for, which counts for something. besides, it made me ugly cry at the ending, which means i still have some investment in these characters and can be manipulated into buying more gaOH GOD CAPCOM IS WINNING

this game loses a whole ass star for having the most uninteresting and completely dull main characters i've ever seen in a fire emblem game, which is a REAL shame because the supporting cast has arguably some of the best characters (joshua, cormag, knoll) in the series. if you could replace the twins with like planks of wood i'd be more invested in the story and this would gain at least half a star.

you gotta love it when a game's main gameplay formula fundamentally does not involve you whatsoever

no sir, i don't have a retirement fund, but i DO own two copies of this game. so it all balances out

extremely charming game. what this game lacks in RTS genre depth it more than makes up for in personality and quaintness. pikmin 1 is probably always going to be my favorite in the series because it possesses a simplicity to it that i feel the later games lost.

edit as of 10/9/2020: lost half a star. blame pikmin 2.

say what you want about the cheating bullshit AI, but this game's OST bags severely. it's a shame we never got the PS1 version of this game, which enhanced the already stellar OST. don't play this, it'll just infuriate you, just listen to it instead. or watch someone far better and more attractive than you play it on youtube or something.

i'm being hauled away by two security enforcers, am hollering at the top of my lungs APOLLO IS STILL ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING AND COMPELLING CHARACTERS IN THE ENTIRE AA SERIES AND CAPCOM SABOTAGED THE LAST CASE OF HIS GAME TO MAKE ROOM FOR BRAND RECOGNITION IN PHOENIX is choked and does not wake up for several hours

i don't have a ton to say about the metroidvanias on the GBA and DS except for that they're all mostly competent at worst and have outstanding exploration and game design at best. i've always seen portrait of ruin as the best of the bunch and that's partly because i'm partial to its OST (tell me you don't adore "Hail to the Past", i fucking dare you). the charlotte/jonathan dynamics also give you a lot more room for self-expression and creativity as a player, and it's just a lot of fun to explore the castle and the various portraits. if you've never played a metroidvania, don't start with this one. your standards will be set too high.

edit as of 8/28/2020: i changed my mind and think order of ecclesia is better than this but i'll keep the original review as is for posterity's sake. to say it's a photo finish between the two is an understatement

far and away the best in the series and i'll always maintain that. the subclassing option opened up so many doors for party combinations and ways to make otherwise mediocre classes viable. the OST is outrageously good, and the stratums are a lot more varied than they were in the previous two games. overall just a magnificent end to the series, such a shame that they never made another game after this and that this was the last entry with no sequels. really sad to see but i respect the play.

this game is still massively overrated by its fans, but that's not a bad thing. someone's gotta be this game's cheerleader, because capcom certainly wasn't. aside from some dangling plot threads that never get resolved, this is a very solid game worth playing.

will forever defend this game from the hate it receives. outstanding story that actually made coherency of the otherwise nonsensical KH overarching narrative. gameplay could've been better but this thing being as functional (if fuck ugly) as it was in 2009 is worthy of praise by itself.

the ocean king's temple? fuck you, nintendo.
