With all of the improvements, this is a great update to an already fantastic game. Bowser's Fury is also pretty fun, but I'll always prefer the main game.

This one is really fun! All of the levels are super inventive and this Mario has my favourite soundtrack of them all! I have so many fond memories of the multiplayer mode, especially, which is a first for a 3D Mario title and hopefully won't be the last.

This one is pretty redundant given Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is out but if you only have a Wii U (as if) and somehow haven't played this one yet you should absolutely pick it up!

This game is actually extremely fun. I've always preferred the linear Mario style so this was a breath of fresh air for me! Unlocking everything was extremely rewarding and I've achieved 100% completion twice! In fact, this was the first Mario I ever achieved 100% completion in, so I hold it pretty close to my heart.

A lot of people like to say that its successor makes this game completely redundant but I highly disagree. Yeah, it's definitely lacking compared to 3D World but this game has its own charm and I'll definitely be revising it again in the future!

Yeah, after the original this one's just kinda underwhelming. I was actually really disappointed on my first playthrough but it's still a solid title, I guess.

This one's just kinda the same as the original as far as my problems go. The controls aren't as bad in my opinion despite the lack of an analog stick on the original console. That being said, absolutely no way I'm getting 150 stars--120 is bad enough.

The minigames are pretty fun and without this game we wouldn't have gotten Rec Room (Original Version) so that pushes it slightly over the original.

Damn, now this is how you make a 3D Mario game! Every aspect of this game is absolute perfection. Who knew that putting linear levels in a series that started off with linear levels would be a good idea?!

I've completed this on both the Wii and Nintendo Switch and I will say that Handheld Mode on the Switch is absolutely the way to go for me, but the game works just fine with any control method so pick whatever you feel most comfortable with!

People hype this up as one of the best Mario titles. The controls and physics are total ass and the later levels are a complete pain, especially with those damn 100 coin stars!

I wouldn't be so harsh on this one if people just accepted that it's not perfect... and they kinda have and say we shouldn't compare it to later games, but also kinda haven't and claim it has the best controls in all of gaming? Is it good or not? Make up your minds, people!

I'm coming back to this one every few weeks ago to take another stab at 100% completion. I'm at 107 stars right now and have been for a long, long time because these last ones are just ridiculous; especially those damn 100 coin stars!!

Ah, I have fond memories of this one! This is a really great recreation of the original title with a bunch of new content as well--in fact, it was this version of the original game that I beat for the first time!

Of course, all the original title's shortcomings still apply but the additional content makes up for it and then some in my opinion! The only other problem here is the screen crunch thanks to the Game Boy Color's small screen size but that's not at all a deal-breaker for me.

Nintendo really knocked it out of the park with this one! I can just imagine how incredible this must have been for all the kids playing for the first time in '91 with the game's expansive world map and large emphasis on exploration. I still come back to this one pretty frequently because it's such a blast!

Now this is a great time! Pretty much every aspect of the that first game has been improved upon. The arcade Mario Bros. minigame in the multiplayer mode is also a nice addition and it's neat that it can be accessed at any time on the world map!

This one kinda sucks. It's got nothing to do with the fact that it's a reskin; it's just not that much fun. I haven't played the original Doki Doki Panic but if it really is just the exact same as this then that game isn't fun either.

Mario's first outing is a pretty solid one. The physics are kinda eh and some of the castles kinda blow without a guide but it's still a fun time.

If you view the game more as an arcade title similar to other games at the time then a lot of the design choices make a lot of sense, imo. That being said, the modern 2D Mario series is definitely more accessible and refined.

I use Mario Clock to wake up every day on my 3DS which, unlike previous DS models, doesn't have a built-in alarm clock. It's very useful.

One minor complaint that I have is that when your battery is low, the whole screen gets tinted red. I appreciate the warning, I guess, but there's already a light on the console that tells me exactly that. It's a little creepy, honestly...
