Meh. The strange physics make this one a huge pain, honestly. Music's good, though.

The Trial of the Sage Leaf can kiss my ass.

Nintendo really knocked it out of the park with this one! I can just imagine how incredible this must have been for all the kids playing for the first time in '91 with the game's expansive world map and large emphasis on exploration. I still come back to this one pretty frequently because it's such a blast!

Mario's first outing is a pretty solid one. The physics are kinda eh and some of the castles kinda blow without a guide but it's still a fun time.

If you view the game more as an arcade title similar to other games at the time then a lot of the design choices make a lot of sense, imo. That being said, the modern 2D Mario series is definitely more accessible and refined.

As far as calculators go, you could do a lot worse! Adding a Mario skin on top of what would be considered by many to be quite an uninteresting subject sure helps me engage when I need to. Unfortunately, when I need to and when I can are too separate things, as using a DSi or 3DS during a school lesson probably isn't going to yield the best results.

Perhaps, if this was packaged as an actual dedicated physical calculator rather than a DSi application it'd be more acceptable to use when it's needed most but, for its low asking price back when this was available, you couldn't really go wrong. That being said, if you're looking for a more advanced calculator, you probably want to look elsewhere.

I'd play this one sooner than Doki Doki Panic and I mean that with 100% sincerity.

This one is really fun! All of the levels are super inventive and this Mario has my favourite soundtrack of them all! I have so many fond memories of the multiplayer mode, especially, which is a first for a 3D Mario title and hopefully won't be the last.

This one is pretty redundant given Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is out but if you only have a Wii U (as if) and somehow haven't played this one yet you should absolutely pick it up!

This one kinda sucks. It's got nothing to do with the fact that it's a reskin; it's just not that much fun. I haven't played the original Doki Doki Panic but if it really is just the exact same as this then that game isn't fun either.

Now this is a great time! Pretty much every aspect of the that first game has been improved upon. The arcade Mario Bros. minigame in the multiplayer mode is also a nice addition and it's neat that it can be accessed at any time on the world map!

Art direction is really nice. Music is too, I guess. Levels don't really have as much Wonder™ as they think they do, though.

Yeah, after the original this one's just kinda underwhelming. I was actually really disappointed on my first playthrough but it's still a solid title, I guess.

It's pretty fun but definitely not worth the price, even with all the additional content added since launch. I mean, if you wanna buy the rest of the levels I'm not gonna stop you but the chances of a sale on Super Mario Run are next to zero.

Plus, I bought this back when I was an Android user, but I've since made the switch to iOS and would need to buy the game again to get all of its content back on my current phone... no thanks. It's a good thing Android emulation exists, am I right?

Damn, now this is how you make a 3D Mario game! Every aspect of this game is absolute perfection. Who knew that putting linear levels in a series that started off with linear levels would be a good idea?!

I've completed this on both the Wii and Nintendo Switch and I will say that Handheld Mode on the Switch is absolutely the way to go for me, but the game works just fine with any control method so pick whatever you feel most comfortable with!

So... apparently this has a unique listing here. Best version of the best Mario game easily.
