I have played this game since very early on in my life. From many consoles, the NES, the GBA, the SNES version, emulation, switch ports, etc. and it never gets old. Such a pinnacle Mario game. The tunes are all catchy and will never leave your head, the level design is very breezy and snappy making going from one level to the next enjoyable, and the gimmicks of all the worlds are all good. There is nothing about this game that is bad simply put. Just a great 2D platformer.
My absolute favorite Pokemon game. Everything about this game screams soul, and it isn't just nostalgia talking. There is so much to do and complete in this game that it is just crazy. The pokemon selection during your playthrough is great, the difficulty is the perfect balance between a breeze (what a pokemon game should be) and random but fair challenging fights. The poketch is fun, underground is great, contests are honestly fun too as a mini game. And man, the Battle Frontier is just the ultimate challenge for someone who wants more from this game. I have gotten every single trainer card star in this game which entails Beating the game, getting 100 battle win streak in the Battle Tower, Stealing 50 flags in the underground, winning a Master rank contest, and completing the Pokedex. I also, as of writing this, have 4 gold symbols in the Battle Frontier, with a silver symbol in the Battle Factory. Meaning I have essentially done 99% of what there is to do in this game. It is the absolute pinnacle of Pokemon. Amazing region, amazing map design, amazing OST...now if only it was on Gen 5's engine...

A master class JRPG. What a game full of simply iconic characters, songs, moments, and areas. The materia system is such a blast to experiment with and find truly gamebreaking combos. It's just a blast from start to finish and a timeless classic. And that final boss leaves such an impression on you, especially if you take the time to get Omnislash.
