I... dunno, man. This game is so balls to the walls all the time that the ending falls lifelessly flat. It also lacks significant character growth, my favorite part of SciAdv as a whole. I still gave it 3 stars, though. The English dub is astounding, the presentation is excellent, and the Save/Load gimmick makes reading through text surprisingly fun.
If anyone is checking this out thinking "Huh, this visual novel looks cool": Please play every other SciAdv game, and then this one. Those games are peak. This one? Not so much. But I think it's a testament to the series as a whole that my least favorite game in the series doesn't go below 3 stars.
Asuma is pretty peak, I won't lie.

The amount of bullshit you have to deal with in this game is frankly too high, but chilling on netplay with randoms and friends is some of the most fun I've had with a fighting game.
Nasu loves writing middle school fantasy stuff in his games, and this strikes the mighty itch I've always had for a fluid, fast paced game with broken english words slapped together to sound cool.
Despite the Melty Dripless memes going around, CC's cast has a lot of varied designs, including Shiki Ryougi, the smartest design of all time. The presentation in general is amazing- beautiful stages, clean UI, pixel art that remains "classic" not "dated", and a great OST... mostly. Sometimes my opponent picks Night of Walpurgis stage and I want to blow my brains out.
Gameplay is fast, furious, and every action carries high risk and reward. I love it to death. However, there are two glaring issues: One, there's no official netplay and you need Discord for games. Two, the gap between certain tiers is astounding. Trying to fight Honest Mids Michael with a character below high mid tier is a miserable experience, same with Hime, Aoko, and others.
Overall, this game fucking owns. It's everything I'd want in a fighting game, visually and gameplay wise.

Oh yeah I played DGS1's fan tl and watched DGS2's fansubs a while back. I plan to replay the chronicles in english sometime.
But yeah this is easily the best AA game and possibly one of my favorite games in general. Fantastic characters, pacing, story, music, new mechanics that do not feel forced or hard to understand, masterful presentation, beautiful art
This game has it all. If you're checking out the reviews here because you're thinking about getting it, DO.
