I loved this! Really great game that absolutely captured the feeling that the original movie so expertly conveyed 40 years ago. It's pretty well paced, at least up until the last few parts, but even then it doesn't fall off the rails too hard.

My only complaints about it are that a lot of the combat seems really unnecessary and I would have preferred it being a straightforward horror game, perhaps with not as many android or human centric sections. The ending is way too abrupt too, and definitely makes you feel like they wanted to make a sequel. I can't fault them for that but I would have liked something that ended a little better on its own merits.

All-in-all, though, GREAT game, great addition to the Alien franchise.

Pretty fun! Isolation already felt like the movie in game form, so why not just... make the movie in game form. Pretty much exactly what you'd want out of that - a short segment from the movie that's easily adaptable to the survival horror format. It works and it's really cool seeing the (some? all?) actors reprise their roles.

Same deal as Crew Expendable. A section of the movie in game form, which works really well for a movie like this. Nothing super special, just cool playing through a very well adapted segment of a masterpiece, especially since they got the actors to reprise their roles.

If you're looking for a video game that comments on violence and empathy in gaming, giving you agency to make choices that lead to that commentary, and repercussions when you choose violence over peace, look no further. Wild to me that games are coming out five years after this released and act like they're doing it better.

Absolutely batshit crazy. Actual gameplay is fun enough until it gets into platforming sections. The story is... I don't even know. I don't even know what it is. It's wild and I kind of love it. Excited to play the rest of them for the actual first time (I played this one when I was a kid.

wayyyy too long and the card mechanics don't translate super well into the style of kingdom hearts, i think, especially when you come right off of playing that game. the story is really bare bones and minimal too. all of the segments inside of the worlds themselves are repetitive (both gameplay and storywise), and the in-between parts, while interesting, are too few and far between.

reaaaallly wish i liked this more! i'm down for all of the weird final fantasy/disney crossover shit, im down for the nonsense plot and unknown motivations, im down for the action based, world hopping gameplay.

what drags it down is the ceaseless rehashing of disney movie plots via hours and hours of cutscenes that don't connect to the main plot at all. or the boss fights that are too often comprised of sections where you can't injure the boss but if they injure you you're basically dead in a single hit. or just, generally, by the end, you really want it to be over but there's like 7 bosses in a row, including the final one with 1000 forms.

it's a good game and it's almost great but it just doesn't get there for me.

what a perfect game! one that you just... think about when you're not playing it. constantly. i will probably be thinking about this quite a bit even after exhausting the game. legitimately can't wait for silksong, a day one purchase for me.

did everything, including dlc, except godmaster content. i will never be good enough to even attempt that, so why bother.

holds up! combat is a little annoying, especially with the final boss fight, and the humor is a little outdated but other than that it's still a fun action platformer. paper thin plot, too.

a solid enough game that i really, really wish i liked more. the bones of something i'm REALLY into are there, but unfortunately i don't think they come together into something that i really vibe with. gameplay is fun enough (especially once you get a certain power), there are some standout moments (the live-action darling memos and the ashtray maze), but overall i felt the game lacking in a distinct enough personality and compelling enough characters to really latch onto. might want to return for the dlc eventually, not probably not anytime soon.

got the car to go 140 mph but then i kept crashing

my favorite video game series with my favorite video game villain

pretty fun game! really vibed with the visuals, the gameplay, and the base outline of the plot - the idea of taking the standard sci-fi "precursor race" setup and changing it so that the precursors are US isn't necessarily original but it's interesting and kept me wanting to see what happened next! plenty you can improve on - streamline the open world elements a bit, work on the specific writing, make the character animations a little better. but it's definitely got me feeling like i want to roll right into the sequel, which i am going to do.

testament to this game that i beat it in one sitting i guess! frustrating and obtuse but also wonderful and charming in equal measure. can't imagine playing this in 1986, with barely any idea on what to do but never having been exposed to something like this ever before. a miracle!
