A mediocre metroidvania. The story tried its hardest to be interesting, but at the time of writing this I finished the game like two minutes ago and I don't really remember much of it. Music is generic chiptunes which I definitely don't remember at all, the pixel art is great but the colors are just a boring mix of brown and purple, and the combat is kind of interesting, but bland. The game's most distinguishing feature is using the titular Timespinner to stop time, but its actually possible to finish the game without using it once, so its just a gimmick that isn't used to its full potential. Overall, I don't think this game is very good

It's alright. Time mechanic is so unremarkable it's insane. I only used it for a couple puzzles, and that's it. I like the art, but the level design is kind of dull, and it ends to quick as well. Story is awful too, but I liked the characters. Also I hate it when people complain about the camp scene.

It's hard to put how much I love this game into words without underselling it. Everything about it is absolutely wonderful. I especially adore the cast of characters and the writing around them. I love them all so much.

The Good:
-Fantastic music
-Pretty pixel art
-Mostly well-written

The Ok:
-Doesn’t innovate at all
-Weirdly horny

The Bad:

-Not much, unless you dislike its short length

Conclusion:
Timespinner isn’t really close to the best metroidvanias I’ve ever played, but it is still really solid. To start, the presentation is really great, especially the music. It’s almost weird how great the music is, like there are some seriously beautiful tracks here. The game also looks great, although some character models do look a little strange. Gameplay-wise it’s nothing new, although it is fun. The combat is pretty basic, but it gets the job done. The exploration is also nothing new, but it works. The plot is actually more in-depth than most other platformers, I mean it’s got a whole war between two groups, and the conflict is actually interesting. The characters are also interesting, although I do wish we could’ve known them a little better. One weird thing I noticed was that this is definitely the most horny 2D game I’ve ever played. That isn’t really a negative, but a few cutscenes caught me off guard. A good point of reference here is Symphony of the Night. If you played that game and liked it, I guarantee you’ll like this. The map system is the same, the menus are similar, some plot points are the same, even some of the room layouts are copies. Timespinner doesn’t really improve on SotN, but it does offer a less-dated version of pretty much a similar experience. Also, one last thing is that it definitely underutilized its time-stopping mechanic. It’s fun, but you could easily construct the game without it. In short, I did really enjoy this one. It doesn’t offer anything extraordinary (aside from the music), but this is still a clear recommendation to metroidvania fans.

Of the 3 time based metroidvanias i have played it isnt the best, but its fine. Touhou Luna Nights definitely uses its time stop in more interesting ways, and The Messenger just feels better to play, but if you want one a metroidvania that is like symphony of the night here you go.

A nice metroidvania to scratch that itch. Cool characters and romance plots, multiple endings~

very nice pixel art, but the gameplay is awfully repetitive and level design is dull even by Igavania standards. just play Bloodstained: RotN instead if you want to scratch that SotN itch

The game has its strong points.
The mechanics reminds me Order of Ecclesia,
has not too much to explain about.
I started in Nightmare mode, where the difficulty makes the game better, I played later in normal mode and is too easy. A tip: Use the code to play in Nightmare mode, you will get a better game experience.
The sound looks great and fits on the game dark ambience.

If your itching for a 2D metroidvania game that takes a little to much inspiration from symphony of the night this is a pretty decent game. It's not very hard and it's story is okay. It definitly was a relaxing game to 100% and filled in a gap in my gaming schedule for a good change of pace game.

Platinum #112

i need more games that shamelessly copy castlevania because castlevania is good

A Metroidvania that started pretty strong but finished weak. I guess this is my second exposure to the Igavania sub-genre (after Bloodstained: RotN), and I clearly I do enjoy the genre. This game started off with pretty solid progression, good if basic MV map design, and really solid but nothing special presentation. But honestly the story was really weird but too hard to follow. It was trying to be like a JRPG story but crammed into a <10 hr game which resulted in me not caring about the story and almost completely losing interest by the end

This game was my first metroidvania that I finished and I had good time. It's like what if Castlevania Symphony of the Night (which I need to finish) was about a time traveling psychic on another planet, with fun powers, actual time travel affecting the story, multiple endings, characters that are more fleshed out than I was expecting after first meeting them.

Some of the platforming was more percise than it needed to be, and there is often a fair bit of backtracking. But I loved exploring and finding out how far this path goes only to discover it was like 3 dungeons long, haha. Anyway fun game and it isn't very long.

There is a lot to like in this game. I would say that even if Metroidvania style games aren't your jam, there's probably enough good platforming and clever concepts to keep you entertained through the story. The story isn't half bad, if not just a tad cliche but at this point which story isn't? It tries a little too hard at some points, like the point in the game where we seemingly needed to turn the side quests into a platform to explore all of the NPC's sexuality. This in particular came across as extremely forced although I can respect tackling relevant and current social matters in the medium. Overall the short jaunt traveling back and forth among the map between past and present was enjoyable and this is a great start for the team involved. I'm interested to see what they can accomplish with greater resources.

This game is fun! It's pretty simple and the time mechanics tend to make bosses a lot easier than they would be without, but it's a nice little jaunt through time.

an engaging metroidvania that's a little rough and unpolished in ways that mostly make it endearing. very good movement physics, an interesting combat system, and a set of fun and memorable characters.

Nada de inovador, porém visual e trilha sonora excelentes. Um jogo mediano mas me cativou demais

Cool Metroidvania game. A little short and not outstanding, but fun.

The chick you play as is pretty sexy

Metroidvania about trying to stop an empire from killing your friends and family while traveling through time. Fun gameplay that allows you to equip three sets of two different melee or ranged orbs that make up your attacks, charged attack, and a passive effect as well as an ability that can stop time. Good art with a nice soundtrack. Supporting cast stories are enjoyable but sidequests needed for them are often dull and require backtracking through mostly uninteresting areas. Limited weapons.

Lembra o sistema de Order of Ecclesia.

Perfectly decent little Metroidvania game. Doesn't outstay its welcome, maybe a little too easy. Doesn't really follow through on its time control idea (for that play the exceptional Touhou Luna Nights). Worth the time and effort on Game Pass and it's still up for a few more days - if you have a bit of time between now and the 15th then definitely check it out.

This game is super queer, criminally short, has a spot on SNES aesthetic (outside of the music), gives a neck breaker of a nod to Order of Ecclesia, and is one of my new favorite metroidvanias. The randomizer for pc is really well done.

A wonderful Metroidvania with a gorgeous pixel-art style and an interesting (if not occasionally confusing) story spanning both the past and the present of the game's setting.
