Abandoned Backlog

A list of games I have purchased and currently own, that I have never played/barely played and doubt I will play any time soon, if ever. Keeping these off of my main backlog unless I finally decide to start a series, as I want to keep the backlog clean and up to date with games I intend to play. Ordered by platform, alphabetically (Xbox, Switch, Steam, PlayStation)

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
(Xbox)

Gameplay is extremely clunky and controls are simply unusable for me. I don't think I would have a good time with classic Halo games. I do like Infinite a lot, though.
Halo 3
Halo 3
Halo 4
Halo 4
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
(Xbox)

Too much of a time commitment to play all of these in any reasonable time frame. Issues with ME1 leave me hesitant to dive in, plus the achievement list is one giant list as opposed to individual lists for each game. There are also 44 missable acheivements which is a major turnoff for me, as I don't want to have a guide up for over 100 hours while I navigate these games. I've already played ME2 on 360 and absolutely adored it, and if I ever stop caring so much about achievements, I may end up giving these a whirl.

Max Payne 3

(Xbox)

Unobtainable Achievements. With Remedy's Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes in development (which will surely tie into their connected universe, which MP3 is not a part of), I am in no rush to play this game before they release.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
(Xbox)

Played for about an hour and ehhhh, it just felt off. Overly violent/gory as well which is not something I particularly care for. Might see this one through if I'm ever in need of a character action fix and have no others to play.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - HD Edition
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - HD Edition
(Xbox)

Purchased all these MGS games with the intent to catch up on what I consider one of my biggest blind spots in gaming. Unfortunately, a full playthrough of these games will take an extraordinary amount of time that I don't think I can commit to any time soon. Gameplay in the earlier games is also incredibly clunky and counter-intuitive, so these may never get played.

Bought this collection for $10 on Series X, quite the steal. Unfortunately, these feel too barebones to me to warrant a full playthrough. I did play Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 on the 360 and remember really liking it, so who knows, maybe sometime when I'm feeling nostalgic I'll hop into these.

Vanquish

Bought the Bayonetta + Vanquish Pack because it was cheaper than just buying Bayonetta. I don't really have any interest in Vanquish, but I might try it some day.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
(Switch)

I was excited to try this out, until I found out it was about 80% a Visual Novel and now I am much less interested. This game receives endless praise, so it is highly likely to be removed from this list.
Astria Ascending
Astria Ascending
(Switch)

I have heard mostly negative things about this game, and despite thinking it looks cool and that I might enjoy it anyway, I would rather prioritize JRPGs that I know I would like. These games simply take too long to play for me to prioritize a subpar game.
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII
(Switch)

I'm afraid these Final Fantasy entries are just too old to be enjoyable for me. I am not a fan of the PS1/N64 era, as I feel like the majority of the games do not hold up well and are too slow/clunky to play. It's such a shame to say, as I love JRPGs and Final Fantasy is a MASSIVE blind spot in my gaming repertoire. I'm hoping that I can eventually power through and play these beloved games.

This one stings. I think I would actually really enjoy this game; I own it on steam and owned the physical version on PS4 for a bit, but the timing just hasn't been right. I'm not crazy about GTA-style games and i think that is what has prevented me from playing it in the past. Considering the base version which I own on steam is incompatible with Steam Deck, this game is mostly dead in the water for me. Maybe one day I'll play it.

I have a weird relationship with the AC series. I've played & completed 2 multiple times, but could never get into any other entries. I started Brotherhood but stopped shortly thereafter. I would like to finish these up one day, it would be nice to at least complete the Ezio story arc.

Another Subpar JRPG. I do genuinely think the concepts in this game are awesome and the art style brings a smile to my face, but I'm just hesitant to start it due to technical issues. I bought it on PS4 since it was on clearance, but I wish I would've grabbed it on Switch instead. I probably would've played it by now if I did.

I played Metro 2033 on Xbox 360 and liked it decently enough. I started it again and quickly fell off, so I don't have high hopes I'll ever get back to it or the sequel. Fun fact, this was the first thing I bought for my PS4!

I've never played a Musou before, but the idea of one in a Persona 5 theme made me think I would be interested in trying out my first warriors-style game. Bought it on clearance over a year ago and haven't thought about it since. Probably won't ever get to it.

BioShock: The Collection
(Xbox, Steam, Playstation) (Yes, I have bought this collection 3 times and never played it. What is wrong with me?)

Similar to the other entires, I think I missed the window for me to enjoy these. Gameplay (especially 1 & 2) feels too clunky and slow for me to find enjoyable. An insane # of missable achievements in Bioshock 1 & 2 also kill my desire to play. I do think if any of these games have a chance of being played, it would be these.
