If this was any of the later releases then I'd probably give this a higher score. How does this age terribly whilst the Mario trilogy come out clean?

People like talking about the borked growth system, but my problems are geared more towards the awful dungeons and pacing.

The Floating Continent is great, but the rest is pretty bad.

Worth playing at least once just for that first cape level. The Star World is also a great experience.

Almost a great game. That scene in Mt. Ordeals is still great to this day. The scene when Cecil tells Rosa and Rydia to stay behind before the final showdown leaves a very bitter aftertaste though. That, and that weird stint where you're forced to use the Cecil/Cid/Tellah/Yang for two dungeons, ugh.

This is more like it! The job system in this game is so good. As are the bosses. The GBA translation is full of groaners though.

Other than some issues with the UI, this is fun stuff. Definitely what IV should've been.

I'm one of those guys who prefers VII, but this game will always be special to me. Every time I play it, I always feel 17 again.

Somehow managed to make ice levels fun. I'm serious, DANGER! Icy Conditions ahead is a superb level.

You know what, after a bit of thinking, this might be my favourite of the trilogy. For one thing, it's the most focused.

Basic gameplay but a very charming plot. The Booster plot is a riot.

Of course, this game is getting the perfect score. There's a reason why most RPGs since try (and fail) to be like it.

Another game from the PS1 era that I will stan until I die. Although I won't deny that it started the bad habit of locking the true ending behind arbitrary activities.

I really wanted this to be higher, but some of the levels in the end-game are just plain awful. At least the soundtrack is tight.

If James Cameron made a game. This one really knows how to utilise its hardware.
