Hard to describe game... it's a masterpiece. And flawed to the bone. The atmosphere fills me with existential dread, despite the old engine, the game drew me in it's depressive world like nothing else.

It feels like the kind of thing that couldn't be made by a AAA studio. It's a genuine personal artpiece coming from the depths of a few developer's minds. It feels genuine like nothing else in it's dread and terror.

Gameplay is sometimes a bit weak. Some puzzles poorly communicated. But that's about it. I don't know if it deserves all the stars, or just 4 or 3.5. It deserves all of them at the same time. It's one of a kind.

This game has a irresistible visual style and top tier boomer shooting. It helped me get into the boomer shooter craze. The environments and enemies have tons of variation, which a lot of games like this lack.

Top tier open world grinding and exploration. Packed with content, to say the least. Got over 130 hours, and I have mostly only done side quests. Now, even with a good game, I can grow tired and abandon it. I probably binge played too much, I should have played over a longer duration of time.

Might pick up again in the future.

One of the most immersive games ever, it truly feels like exploring a occult secret man was never meant to know. A truly haunting trip with ample existential dread.

Near the end of the game, I installed a new operating system while forgetting that the game doesn't have cloud sync. Therefore, I lost my progress and abandoned it, but not because the game was bad.

I'm a huge fan of DOOM 3's somewhat aged design. Those stencil shadows are timeless, and I'm in love with the enemy roster and weapons.

I believed I finished it in two sittings every time I played, it just hooks me in. Hard to describe exactly why. The pacing just moves on and it's "snappy"

I really enjoyed this one. For some reason, I like gun jamming.

Now, the open world is a bit constrained, and it really wants you to travel select paths where you get never-ending enemy respawns. This may be the biggest annoyance, but otherwise a solid open world shooter with gritty action.

Basically a shorter far cry 3 that is faster and more of a power fantasy, and more funny.

Amazing short and sweet thought provoking DLC. DLC done right. It gives you the good stuff you expect from the base game, and adds a bit more experimentation and new tools to play with.

Nice little game you could kill a few minutes with, and is especially scary during the beginning and you don't know what's going on

Played on both Nintendo switch when it was new there (yikes) and on windows & linux.

Top tier survival game. There's always something new to explore and do, so you are hooked in. I was obsessed with this when it came out in 2015, and it has gotten so much better since then. I never got really far however. I will probably dive deeper in sometime.

1993

It's doom. While perhaps not as fun as the newer games, it's masterfully orchestrated arsenal and enemy roster never gets old. Can become a bit of a maze sometimes, and to be frank a lot of modern boomer shooters have eclipsed it. But few games I know aged this well.

It's a lot of fun with mods like Brutal Doom.

Doom is also a treasure for retro content, there is always something new being discovered and discussed, should it be speedrunning or the weirdest bugs. Doom has perhaps brought me more enjoyment from content related to it like impossible ports, than the game itself.

Yes it's a walking simulator. But it is oozing with style and charm, and managed to make me cry at the end.

Now it's no Portal 2, but a nice short experience with a fun new testing idea. Played it twice even.

It manages to capture the portal 2 atmosphere, something I always long more of.

2016

First played on Switch, then again on Linux PC

I remember getting this on Switch because I was impressed with the graphics, and how it ran on such a small device. Then it became my favorite game, and also stress relief for my life's problems in upper middle school. I think the game meant too much for me, I looked too deep into it. I later on became a fan for more... normal reasons.

It's a really good FPS campaign. It revived DOOM. What more do I need to say. It really got me into boomer shooters too.

Much of the same from Bioshock, but I found the gameplay to be a tad better. It's more of the same, but it's more focused, cause they used what clearly worked.

It's more Bioshock. Therefore more of my all time favorites.
