Alright shmup with some RPG elements thrown in. I think the soundtrack in this game is over hyped but it's still fine. Not the biggest fan of it's fantasy setting and maybe that's the reason why the game doesn't connect with me much so take this review with a grain of salt

Playing this game makes me really nostalgic about the product at the time. ( even though it was starting to go downhill) This game.... It definitely has issues, many are just glitches in gameplay or sound design.

When playing the Road to WrestleMania mode, there's a mechanic where you can fight other superstars backstage for points. These points are for upgrading your stats to help you progress in the mode a little bit easier. Man do these battles have sound issues, sometimes Irish whipping your opponent into the wall or an object may not even register a sound. Sometimes punches don't either.

The main portion of the game where you are in actual matches can sometimes have this issue but it's few and far between. Speaking of the previous mode I mentioned "Road to WrestleMania" there are some matches with stipulations that take SO LONG to complete its ridiculous. For example in John Cena's"Road to WrestleMania" there is a tag team natch between you and MVP vs Legacy (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibease Jr) where the stipulation is to hit both of your finishers on Randy Orton and also win the match. Seems doable right?

Maybe because my game is on hard mode but this match took at least 45 minutes to complete due to the AI almost never switching in Randy Orton to fight regardless of how injured Cody Rhodes and Dibease were. There was even a point where the match completely glitched on me and I couldn't tag my partner and neither could the AI. I had to hit my finisher again and then everything went back to normal. The game has wonky hit detection at times as well, there has been plenty of times where I've actually hit enemies BEHIND me from a forward moving attack. Using the tables in this game is also a hassle since whipping them into a table doesn't work anymore.

Don't get me wrong the game can be fun at times but it's just plagued with glitches galore

I don't truly know how to feel about this game. It does things I enjoy, but it also does things I don't.

I'll start out by saying that I've never actually played the vanilla version of III and I've played second impact for all of 15 mins. There's definitely a change in gameplay from second impact to third strike but I couldn't tell you how severe of a change it is. The parry mechanic is definitely the most divisive aspect of this game, some people love it, some people hate it, and I'm somewhere in the middle.

I love what the parry mechanic does in CONCEPT, and I love it's applications defensively and offensively, however, in actual practice the parry is a little overwhelming. There are DEEP multi level situations in this game where you have to choose between blocking, parrying, or take a chance on a mixup and red parry your opponents offense. (For those who are confused on what a red parry is: The red Parry is performed by inputting a Parry after blocking at least the first hit of a multi-hitting attack)

The parry mechanic essentially turns this game into one of the most complex fighting games I've ever played, it's a game where you feel like you can and should always improve in, it's a game where the term "optimal" still feels like it's changing nearly 25 years after it's release. I find that aspect of the game a little too complicated for my tastes, but it's also something I find incredibly interesting and a driving force to help me understand the game at a deeper level.

HOT TAKE INCOMING: The gameplay is really what MAKES this game to me, I'll be in the minority on this but I've never been a big fan of this games soundtrack or it's presentation. I like the character select screen but the hub overall is quite dull and the soundtrack is really hit or miss for me. You've got tracks like beats in my head and killing moon as real stand outs but I've never thought this games soundtrack could hold a candle to alpha 3 super turbo or honestly, even street fighter 4.

But gameplay is what matters most and that's DEFINITELY where this game absolutely shines as an experience.

So Capcom makes alpha in 1995. It's a fun little game. Alpha 2 comes out the next year and it is other worldly compared to the first, a giant leap in quality and a near perfect game. But this? This is different. This is in contention with the best fighting games ever made.

Is it as balanced as alpha 2? No. The ism system allows for some pretty wonky things, the guard break system is fine but I feel like many characters should switch their guard bar lengths.(For example Cody's guard bar is way too short for what he actually does In game. He's not one of the games super strong characters so I don't know why his guard bar is so miniscule compared to someone like Sodom)

But the gameplay is still solid and filled with alot of depth, (especially in certain matchups like Gen vs Zangief.) the soundtrack is excellent, in fact I'd argue some of the best songs in the franchise come from this game. The presentation is really what makes this game go the extra mile for me over alpha 2. There isn't a fighter I know of that presents itself as well as alpha three does for me.

Big bold lettering, an extremely gaudy character select screen, bright colors all around from the, characters to the health bars and super meters. To me this is the best street fighter ever made

Yeah I don't know what the hell happened during the time between the first game and this one but this is a VASTLY improved game compared to the first, this is amazing!

This game features fantastic character portraits, an excellent soundtrack, beautiful stages and some of the best gameplay a street fighter has ever had. The alpha counter and the alpha combo system adds new layers of depth to the game that previous games just didn't have.

The movement is so smooth it's so easy to understand but surprisingly difficult to put what you've learned to good use, this game really helps you train your fundamentals and get good at shimmying and footsies. The roster is filled with these vibrant characters and it rarely ever feels like I can't compete with the top tiers, this is a well balanced game especially for the time it came out.

This is a near perfect fighting game

It's sorta like street fighter 2 but with a new counter system and a more pleasing aesthetic graphically. Feels a little bare bones gameplay wise compared to today. Personally I think you can honestly skip this one and play the far superior sequels of this series

This is the definitive version on Street Fighter Ii. It fixed the slow and clunky feeling of vanilla SF2 added some characters, stages, music and called it a day. The core gameplay of 2 is still not really my cup of tea mainly due to the severe balancing issues this game has but nonetheless it's still a nice game

The game that helped cement an entire genre in gaming. In a vacuum, I'd be willing to call this one of the greatest video game sequels ever made. This game vastly improves on everything the first one tries to do and then some. However, In MY PERSONAL OPINION, I never cared to much for this game either. It's slow and quite clunky, everything feels floaty yet heavy at the same time. The sound design and music are excellent and I think it should be played just to see how far the genre has came

Well there's a reason everyone remembers 2 and not the first game, I'll put it like that.

One of my favorite games of all time. I love the childish coloring book style graphically, the controls are nice and tight, the game goes by at a nice place, it's not too challenging but definitely not a cake walk. It's just an excellent platformer that I think everyone should play

A very reserved version of ultimate destruction following some of the plot points found in the 2008 film. I'm very curious to how this plays on 360 or ps3 but I can tell u the Wii version is quite ugly visually and has weird audio glitches where the sound cuts out. This may have something to do with the sound effects also being connected to the wiimote.

An alright shooter available for your Wii. Compared to the shooters that was coming out at the time this is underwhelming

An absolutely unresponsive mess of a punch out clone with swords on the wii

I was never into Pokemon as a kid but I remember seeing this cover in GameStop and asking my uncle to buy this for me, I was excited to play what I thought would be a pokemon fighting game, which this TECHNICALLY IS...but it's using the turn based combat of the RPG games..... And I also didn't have the DS games to upload my monsters and play them in 3D so yeah I never cared too much for this lmao

This is a game that I haven't put many hours into since season 2 so most of my thoughts on it are predicated on that version of the game, although I have played it since that season.

For starters that I would like to say that this is an incredible game and love letter to fans of the series and fans of traditional 2d fighters so don't let my review deter you from trying this game out. DBZF is an objectively GOOD/GREAT game, and I really wanna reemphasize that point.

Now personally, I didn't really care for this game. I bought it at launch, played it for about 300 hours and dropped it a little before season 3 started. Around 2 or three months ago I decided to try the game out again to see what has changed and they did alot of great updates to the game!

I'm still not a fan of the core gameplay, it's a little bit too offensively minded for me. This is a game where I don't feel like defense really truly matters much. I never felt rewarded with making a good guess I just avoid the situation entirely or go back to neutral, I never WIN a situation off defending. A lot of the characters in the game feel exact same to me, this is a problem that was somewhat rectified in later seasons but for the most part characters fall into two categories

Pure rushdown or a hybrid of another archetype and rushdown, which is just simply not how I like to play my fighting games.

I'm glad this game sold so well, im happy for the staff and u can tell this game is just filled with love from the developers but for me, this wasn't it.
