I LOVE this rough little disaster of a game. Nothing will beat the feeling of the first time I tried to play this and everything felt so obtuse and mysterious. Every play session yielding more information. Not for everyone! Also very simple to conquer once you understand what you're doing, which to me, is a huge positive of this game - much of this title is a knowledge check, not so much a mechanical skill check.

It's so sad, I wish this was finished.

I remember being 15 and arguing with so many people on gamefaqs as to if this was True Art or not, lol. It's still fantastic today.

I still can never get the stupid batting minigame consistently

I was so into it until the last bit. Uninspired and tactless end to the central mystery, and I hate hate hate the ending. The problems with the dialog and slang are overstated, but the ending sucks.

The 2nd most serious Devil May Cry game also means it's probably the second least interesting.

This was like a long demo for a better game to come later

I played with the speakers on and my partner asked me why no one in this game ever shuts up

Crush my cock with a rock, I must. Maximum pain, I must endure.

Also everyone is wrong. The Sonic sections are by far the worst part of this game. Do not believe them.

There are some good ideas here and I miss when we had so many characters to play in these games.

One of the best character action games ever. Genuinely had no right to be this good.

I don't care what anyone says, if you operate on vibes this game is incredible. The sun, the sand, the ocean, take me back. It's probably a worse platformer than other 3d Mario games, but that never bothered me.

Masterful sound design and a simple but extremely effective story. Oh yeah, I guess the platforming is fine too

The setpieces can get in the way of what should be a better action game, but this is one of those titles where every cutscene is so joyful

Lightning in a bottle. All of the themes and gameplay in this game is cohesive, all of the mechanics play off themselves to serve a greater tone and narrative. When FromSoft was okay sacrificing what was fun for what built atmosphere

It just keeps surprising you. The mechanics are all right, but the atmosphere of Inscryption is everything.
