I’m really sorry, but this was a little bit disappointing. I played a whole ton of botw before this game, and then I pick up this game and it’s just more botw? Don’t get me wrong, that’s not bad, but that wasn’t for me. All of the trailers showed that it was going to be super dark and vary narrative driven, but I felt that it was vary tonally off and the story was kinda lame. It kinda suffered from the fallout 4 situation in that, the world is almost over, ganon is back, Zelda’s gone, and you’re making a car for 3 hours. And everything feels chill and happy (save for some GREAT parts) and that not what I wanted. I feel that the open world of this game didn’t support the story that they were trying to share. The whole things of the dragons tears, you can do them in such a way that spoils the whole thing.
But the depths are amazing… for the first 3 hours of them. After I realized that there was no creature stalking me throughout the caverns and nothing waiting for me in the dark, it kinda lost its charm. However, the whole desert sequence and dungeon is amazing. All of the dungeons are the best, and the final boss is absolutely the best. This game has some of the best moments in video games, but the overall game, is very lacking.
