i've played this so many times. I love 16 star speed runs. I love 120 star playthroughs. One of the best games ever.

Getting a new spidey suit was always the best thing ever

Fun game, amazing movement. This game honestly is more fun for challenges and speed runs than for playing the main game. I think something about the balance between the number of moons and the average difficulty to acquire them just made it feel a bit too easy or unimpactful. Would get a bit bored from time to time because of that. Where I spent TONS of time was on koopa race challenges those were so fun.

I like hidden role games a lot. I'd have way more than 12 hours if I had more online friends around the time this was popular.

Random encounters are my least favorite thing. That being said, this game has so much lovable character to it that I know I will have to pick it up and finish it someday. Last time I played this while trying to record youtube videos and lost steam because I couldn't ever get immersed and in the groove. I will pick this one up again.

2018

For whatever reason I am struggling to get into this game. No idea why. It looks amazing and feels fun to play but I keep putting it down.

Overall liked the game. I think my playthrough wasn't as good as it could have been.

I did find the game to get a bit boring because it was so big but it felt like there wasn't much variety. Very few different enemy types and I got tired of the shrine loop. The beasts were all the same gimmick as well.

Would have loved to see a few legacy dungeons. Elden Ring for example incorporates legacy dungeons into the open world seamlessly. Would also have wanted some better rewards for cool moments in the game. For example, the dragons were really cool but the reward from getting their scales and finding where to bring them was a shrine with a cool but very impermanent weapon. I found that underwhelming and disappointing. Also, maybe something like an aesthetic change to the shrines to match the biome they were in would have gone a long way to keep them feeling fresh.

I was a fan of the weapon durability because it forces you to think on your toes and try out different styles. But maybe there should have been way more clothes options then so that there could be something the game could reward you with that wasn't gone after 2 fights.

Obviously the game has many super great moments. It is high on my list of games to give a second try. I did not 100% the game and I wonder if I could have been more creative in how I went about tackling some of the challenges. I'll be sure to update if a second playthrough is better for me. But for now, it was good but not great.

uhhhh i spent too many dollars on this game and too many hours. many more of both to spend in the future!

amazing platforming - check
rewarding challeng - check
beautiful music - check
lovable characters - check
beautiful art - check

it's got it all!

I still need to finish the C-sides. it will be done someday maybe soon!

Was fun to make all my friends and play a season. Not a big baseball person but this one was a good experience. The pacing is good - I expected the games to drag a bit more but they didn't at all. Fun stuff!

Don't care a ton about the gacha, but i like the mahjong UI here better than on Mahjong Soul. As far as I know it's the best looking online riichi game right now.

Best gaming experience I’ve had in a long time. Super intriguing world building, fun platforming (was so excited about the tough platforming in the later game), and really great combat. I’ll definitely be coming back to attempt Steel Soul mode and to beat the 5th pantheon.

This is currently my favorite game of all time. I love the challenge. I love the randomness. Sometimes Derek just screws you over and it feels like there was nothing you could do to stop it. The hilarious deaths. The great feeling after a successful run. Discovering the secrets when I first played was an incredible experience. And now, chasing 7-99 is a long but still fun grind. A challenging and rewarding game.

Also, this game has the BEST feeling platforming/movement physics of any game I’ve ever played. It’s so natural. The movement speed is great. Just feels awesome to play.

Eventually, after about 30 hours, I decided to shelf this game for now. It just was taking so long to do things. I really tried to get immersed in it, and sometimes I felt that it was working, but in the end I just felt bored.

I think the biggest reason is that the much needed combat and dungeon sections to break up the monotonous (though not always boring!!) daily life, dialog packed sections was not interesting enough. The combat was, in my opinion, far too simple. Others may disagree and that’s totally fair. But for me the knock down + one more system made getting through fights more of a chore than an interesting strategic challenge.

I wish I cared about the characters or the story more in this one to keep me hooked but I just felt like it was moving too slowly to keep my interest unfortunately.

What this game does have is insanely good vibes and the best soundtrack ever. That alone kept me playing for the 30 hours I put into it. The music is SO GOOD!!!!

9 stars for me. Even though it’s gotta be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a game. The main reason I’m docking any points is because I couldn’t get through a full playthrough without taking a few longer breaks. It’s just a bit too long if you want to complete as much of the game as possible (which is how I like to play games. I got 112% on hollow knight my first playthrough for example).

But the world building is amazing. I love the environmental storytelling. I love the weapons in this game. The boss fights are super fun. Though sometimes I hated them so much. Just with most other obscenely hard games, I remember the fights fondly now that I’ve beaten them. Great game. Will play again for sure.
