Games I Finished in 2023

All games I finished in 2023. Not included is TinyGolf for the Thumby.

3.5 stars.
very okay game. The gameplay isn't anything special, but is fun enough to see it through. There's just an ounce of intrigue to the story that kept me hooked. The humor is rather hit or miss.
5 stars.
Insane amount of style and charm. Peppermint is the best.
3.5 stars.
a very fast pace fps. the destructible enviroments are really cool.
4 stars.

having listened to this game's director Brandon Sheffield hype the game up for ages on his podcast, The Insert Credit Show, I was so glad to be able to play this game without having to deal with Stadia (RIP).
Mechanically difficult, shooting the ball is such a difficult task, but beating this game was very satisfying! Highly recommended Arcade mode.
3 stars.
a decent time, but rather lackluster. you have to be a rwby fan to get the most out of this.
3 stars.

bought this 2nd hand, as I cannot support J.K.R. and her transphobia.
Honestly, I could write a full essay on how the game is so sub par, but some how managed to keep me interested in getting all the way through it. Maybe its because it's almost exactly what I wanted out of a Potter game when I was 13.
The best part was bopping around the open world. Everything else was just okay.
4 stars.

my perspective on Mr. Kojima's games is kinda odd, as I played through Death Standing first before truely tackling the Metal Gear series.
I enjoyed this game quite a bit. Definitely showing some age, but in a quaint sort of way.
3.5 stars.
watched someone playthrough it. i was expecting to dislike this, but ultimately enjoyed seeing it's story. seems to actually have a trruly realized multi-path story. Connor is a pretty fun character, but I find Markus to be a poorly realized character.
3.5 stars
a short simple game that i really enjoyed. hope to see more from this dev!
3 stars.
a very short, and very confusing game. cool idea, but execution is janky.
4 stars.
a really solid short horror game that is mostly vibes than scares.
3.5 stars.
an interesting experience that can only be done in games. scratched a Portal Puzzle itch that I didn't realize I had.
3.5 stars.
A beautiful game with amazing tone and setting. Not entirely sure exactly why one would want to keep looping around, but I think one pass through was enough for me to truly enjoy it.
4.5 stars.

finished the world tour story mode (before DLC additions). I had a fantastic time playing through a fighting game rpg.
I would love to get into the Arcade stories, or even the online mode, but I am pretty terrible at the proper game.
4 stars.
watched someone else play. great story.
4 stars.
Wild game. Play ASAP, Know as Little As Possible.
3 stars.
Weird game. I see a lot of love put into this game, and the story is kinda fun. Kinda janky. One of the few times in recent memory that an FPS game me motion sickness.
3 stars.
A quick little visual novel that was a lot of fun for a Sonic fan. Lovely art and wonderfully voice acted. Worth the free price tag.
4 stars.
A short free expansion, but a quality one! Its more straightforward nature clears up some of the shortcomings of the base game. A fantastic time! Will say that reading the Scholastic published short story compilations "Tales from the Pizzaplex", will greatly boost your enjoyment of this DLC.
4 stars.
watched someone else play. great story, arguably a bit muddled by being a prequel.

watched someone else play.

My true GOTY.
Play this game. The Game Grumps only published this title, and did not have major creative control on it. A little bit Clock Tower, a little bit Afro-Ninja Escape Series, a little bit PSX Horror revival. I had a wonderful time solving this game set during the Perseids, while they were falling outside.
3.5 stars.
A fast little game.
5 stars.
My Classic GOTY.
One of the most interesting games i've ever played. Absolutely fascinating story, maybe only marred by having combat.
5 Stars.
My new AAA GOTY.
Cyberpunk 2077 finally feels like the wonder the initial trailers touted. The new story within Phantom Liberty is arguably even more fascinating than the main line story. Song and Reed are some of the most interesting characters I've met in gaming. I will really miss hanging out with Johnny Silverhand.
4 stars.
A fascinating intersection between Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Lov that Dawg!! Compared to the rest of the story and tone, the unlockable outfits are just so tone deaf lol
3 stars.
I wanted to like this game so bad. I honestly only kept playing it after the first 20 hours because I just couldn't get over how much I was not liking it. Absolutely the most boring game I played this year. At least shootin dudes felt okay in it. 3 stars might be too many, but it just feels right.
5 stars (replay)
Possibly one of the highest profile examples of a Digital Museum. Uses every inch of what that concept can entail. Please play this free experience asap.
4.5 stars
A short creepy experience. A 3d Seek and Find that is sometimes very obvious, sometimes extremely subtle.
3 stars (replay)
A yearly tradition. Terrible, but in a quaint way.
3.5 stars
Finished in one day. Well worth the .99¢ on the Play Store. What a scheme. Give you a fantastic little game for cheap, that leaves you wanting more, then selling the rest of the series for a few bucks instead.
