It's fantastic. If you don't know that yet, do yourself a favor and pick this game up.

Remember when people who don't really watch movies but are very vocal about them anyways claimed that the Star Wars prequels were a disaster and literally ANYONE could do a better job? And remember how terrible what they were asking for actually was? Welcome to the sequel trilogy of the Dark Souls trilogy. Also, the netcode is literal malware. Don't buy this.

Dark Souls, but way longer and way more competent. That's all anyone could ask for. If only B-team could make every Fromsoft game. Even from its doubters, very little criticisms that don't amount to "it isn't literally Dark Souls 1". God forbid a different game be a better game.

Dark Souls is a game that blurs the line between "flawed masterpiece" and "polished turd" until it's faded beyond recognition. The gameplay alone reaches absurd heights and depths. On the technical side, just depths. At least the netcode isn't literal malware. The kind of raw potential that just begs for a sequel, so of course everyone decided to hate the sequel for improving on everything. Some people just don't want nice thing.

What's not to love about this game? Seriously, there is not a single negative thing I can think of here that isn't overshadowed by the problems its console had.
Exploration is top-notch. Hopefully one day its shackles will be released and this game can get the player base it more than deserved. (or Monolithsoft can actually give us the sequel that was so painfully teased...)

A nice beta version of Xenoblade X. Surprisingly little writing for a game praised for that element. Characters are one-dimensional, which is more than the combat system has going for it. While XC2 is (thankfully) a different experience altogether, XCX is pretty much just this game, but better.

This is honestly the best game I've ever played, which is impressive given I've played Xenoblade X. Despite the fatigue from putting up with the constant bad-faith arguments, I'll gladly die on this hill until something better comes along. Takes the phenomenal worldbuilding of XC1, adds the "WOW" environmental brilliance of XCX, and even introduces some new tricks, such as multiple interesting characters and the best combat system in a game that can be labelled JRPG. Here's to the next 1,000 hours.

All good things come to an end. Until proven otherwise, this is one of gaming's best series' last hurrah. While the Wiimote's most responsive game by a landslide, the nature of the control technology is a little rough on a trilogy defined by fluidity of motion. Still, one of the best on its console.

How do you improve perfection? Retro has found its comfort zone, and they're going to try their hardest to knock you out of yours. A much better approach to "hostile atmosphere" than Fusion, Echoes is just a little faster, a little smoother, a little smarter, and a little shinier than its already-perfect predecessor.

I'm sure that if it weren't for some Other Entry, this would be the series' most controversial title. The first 2D Metroid action of any sort in over a decade, Samus Returns shows none of the rust Fusion had after its own sabbatical, while also opening up future titles to a more action-oriented experience.

It's not going to change the way you see anything. It's going to entertain you for a few hours. Absolutely solid title that learned quickly from the shortcomings of Fusion and proved 2D Metroid was still viable.

There was a time (before either game was released) that people thought Fusion would be better than Prime. Funny. The leap forward in narrative is more than offset by (and directly causes) the awful pacing.

Long live the queen. Absolutely phenomenal in all aspects. Almost 20 years on, first-person platforming has never felt this natural.

The classic. A little overrated by nostalgia, but still very influential to this day. Despite the age, always worth trying out if you haven't.

Honestly not too great, even for its era. Very challenging to control Samus fluently, something completely unfathomable to most other entries in the series.
