FAVOURITE GAME
A cliched response, sure, but this was the first video game I ever had the full end-to-end experience with: reading the early previews, seeing the incredible screenshots, queueing outside our local video game store in the November rain to secure a copy, patiently waiting till Christmas Day to play it, soaking my brain in the atmosphere of the title screen, blowing myself away at the scale of a world bigger than anything I'd played before, being scared of the freakish beasts and ghouls the game threw at me, freaking the fuck out at the various twists and turns of the story, feeling like a total champ after beating it, coming back every few years for another playthrough and appreciating new aspects and texture that sailed past me in youth, perfectly mirroring the childhood/adulthood thread that drives the game. Singularly beautiful.

The Gore / Shagaru Magala saga is just soooooo epic bro, I love it. They made a monhun monstie into a genuinely legendary beast that like... talks to you through the medium of combat. Epic.

CHILDHOOD GAME
Have tried many times to re-appreciate this game as an adult, but it always feels horrific despite the fact I would play it CONSTANTLY as a kid and force all my friends to play it over Mario Kart 64.
