playing this game back to back with the original was a fun exercise and it really highlighted a lot of cool shit and a lot of lame shit in this one. I really love the combat system here and I really like the way they expand on some of the story stuff but it comes at some weird expenses like some really horrid pacing (it would be okay for the game to be 20 hours guys) and like completely assassinating Tifa's character like just absolutely putting her in the ground.
grafting a bunch of weird trash on here seems like coward shit when you could just be exploring the actual really good themes of 7 in greater detail which they flirt with a little bit here and sometimes powerfully but idk if i trust them to actually deliver on.
it would be a lot funnier to just start throwing a bunch of bullshit from the compilation please put the cast of dirge of cerberus in these games thank you

there's something a lot more tangible and earnest and adolescently painful about kingdom hearts 1 than anything else in that franchise in a way that makes it feel really fun for me to revisit. I also like the platforming and the combat and stuff the game is just crunchy and weighty and cool, I wish future KH games had this dedication to level design

DMC1 rips it's so clunky and weird, you can really feel them breaking into a new genre and also all these weird vestiges of resident evil. It's not what it's going to be but it's cool how well-formed it all is, like the game feels great to play and it feels great to get good at it. The checkpoint system is the worst thing I've ever experienced in my entire life but I love the game a lot, real good

weird fuckin game dude like the most generic AAA game from 2013 i can possibly think of but just like smeared with this really intense "look how FUCKED UP we are" veneer over it, particularly in the way it treats Lara herself that makes the whole thing feel creepy and gross
this is like a WILD course correction, everything bad about the 2013 one is gone and this is just a good fun time with a very pleasant plot and good fun gameplay and man i wish there wasn't so much fuckin crafting in every game these days but what are you gonna do, it's very funny that these games are like ohhh nooo lara croft likes killing TOO MUCH but i'm like hell yeah she's the fuckin terminator and these pmc guys are so many kyle reeses
i like all these characters and i wish there was fast travel and i think ponchos are cool

not only is the writing in this game just like astoundingly off base in every possible way that's all been very well documented but it's also just like at its absolute best the world's most boring fps and at its worst the world's most frustrating fps, there's absolutely nothing going on here that's worth anything
