I had to uninstall it so it wouldn’t become A Problem.

This would be two stars less if I didn’t play it coop with my son. What a stupid game. Great time.

Fantastic puzzles. But if I have to hear one more goddamned cutesy character with a British accent tear up through half their lines about how meaningful everything is in an indie game I’m gonna go fuckin apeshit.

Almost too polished. I could have used a bit more friction and frustration. It felt pretty linear in its solving. But maybe that’s just really great puzzle design and I’m being unfair. Absolutely gorgeous and weird visuals with some really neat ideas. I wasn’t surprised at all to find that this was made by former Playdead folks. Has all of that unsettling atmosphere and smooth gameplay.

First 2/3s is a solid 4! The last third is barely a 2. Really fun portrayal of the universe though.

The second I locked myself out of the best ending I bounced. Like the very second. I realized I’d been looking for any reason to stop playing. I got about 2/3s of the way through, and there’s some pretty good imagery in here (hi Eileen’s giant face), but there’s nothing here to hook me plot or gameplay wise. Such a let down from the previous 3 incredible games.

This is the first time that gross designs have actually scared me.

Heather rules.

Feels like garbage and the story is, uh. A disaster? But the atmosphere and world are unbeatable. Just incredible groundwork laid here that would be worth it even if the series didn't continue.

Totally fine! I bet this felt like a nice, if a bit unexciting, return to form after RE5. Now to take a big drink and check out the very next game released in the series...

Also, maybe my favorite turret section (the second one) in a game ever? Easy to hit targets that still move in a fun but predictable way. Not an overload of projectiles you have to shoot down, just enough to keep you on your toes but not enough to detract from the fun. And great dynamic movement through the space. If you're going to do a turret section, this is the way.

Stupid. Fun. Sure.

But there's a reason Capcom isn't rebooting these things. Nostalgia is doing a lot of heavy lifting for some of you. There's not a lot there when it comes to this series.

The island is wack, it's kinda of a miserable RE game, and Ashley as a mechanic is so trivial as to be pointless. But. You can suplex a monk so hard their head explodes. It is neck and neck with Halo CE for having the best pistol in any game. You can buy a rocket launcher that just says 'fuck you' to any boss you're struggling against. And it does the weird, goopy, mutating body horror better than any other game in this series. It has aged so well I'm kinda curious what a remake even has to add at this point.

My son and I have had just an incredible time going through this trilogy. It meant a lot to me as a kid and now it means even more playing through it with him. Old school Bungie was the GOAT.

I finished the train section, which everyone says is the best part. And while the environment is pretty neat, if that's the unequivocal best this game has to offer? I'm good.
