First couple of worlds done. Some really cool platforming in here. Wall jump challenge 2 was so satisfying to finally pull off.

But, for God’s sake, get rid of the lives system.

Love that it won’t let you climb without safety equipment. A cool and important touch.

Ambient climbing stuff really fun; less fun where I am now and it wants to add a bit of challenge. It’s a touch unwieldy and doesn’t always do what you want. But it’s cool. Also, had an issue where I got near the top of a climb and then it wouldn’t let me grip anything, after having paused and unpaused. Annoying.

Propulsive and fluid puzzle solving. Everything tutorialises itself so deftly, a wordless masterclass in how to teach mechanics to a player. It also keeps surprising me while staying close to a defined gameplay language. Played through 81%, apparently.

Propulsively playable even if it doesn’t get the most out of its systems. Writing lapses in small areas but works in every big one. Characters are great to spend time with.

Really cool. Like the writing and the effort free skating. Maybe some feature creep but the combat — though repetitive — can be really fun. Enough mechanics speak to each other even if it doesn’t always feel meaningful.

This seems good. A solid XCOM like, or XCOM lite.

Slow to start, but that’s Persona. Don’t love the writing but do some of the style. Not wholly sold on the wider art style but the presentation is as slick as you’d expect from a P5 product.

Couple of hours of shrine based exploration. Fun vehicle shrine; silly stealth attack shrine (a waste, really). As always, the moments in between stun.

The water temple was great. Controls still fiddly but fun and intuitive puzzles. Boss cool. Splatoon.

Then did a great shrine where you put weapons on roombas. This game is so good and it’s been too long.

I like racing in this a lot. The framing of the campaign is very thin and you get a car ready and then move on…. But I love to race. Turned on full rules so no rewind and actual damage! Made it more fun

Played through a dungeon and beat a boss.

I'm just not that compelled by this. Combat is a bit of a chore; good ideas that don't fit together into a good overall sustem.

Trying to get the difficulty right, still finding the game very satisfying. Starting to get a touch bored of practice, I feel it should be 3 attempts to hit a lap time rather than always three laps. Feels like padding a touch.

Yeah, this is my jam so far. Just zen. Learn some tracks, go in a menu, have fun. Earn that fun.

Couple of bosses down. Areas that are like Bloodborne but it’s not as good. And let’s stack up new mechanics.

This is good but… Consistently annoying with design decisions.

Getting more into it, though still points of friction. I have a P Organ, which is funny. The level design just isn't very good and the combat doesn't feel like I want it to.

Later session:

Levels still aren’t very good. Bosses are not fun to fight and the game doesn’t feel built within its own parameters. I think I just don’t enjoy the push to parry that’s happened in this genre, and has come to define it.
