Let me start by saying this game can feel a little tedious at times and it's pretty fucking long. As far as I can tell it's literally 4x as long as remake. I was not expecting this take me 80 hours but it did, especially since I only had like 20 hours in remake having done most of that games side content. My most important take away is that this game really focuses on the small details. It's really about the journey and not the destination. So much of the game time is spent interacting with and learning about your party members. Pretty much all side quests involve one of your party members helping out. Over the whole game it really feels like you get a better more personal understanding of everyone, which I think the games animation and voice acting really help enhance. It's also nice to see all the party members interact and talk with each other, there are lot of games that would make the main character the only one the party cares about but here it feels like each character has there own thoughts on everyone in the party.

To avoid spoilers for the main story I'll just say the main goal of the game is find Sephiroth. You quite literally travel around the world looking for him, and the locations are varied which is nice. There are definitely parts of the game that are mysterious and it's intentional. For me I loved those elements and I'm really excited to see what part 3 does with them. As for other characters I feel like you get to meet a nice mix of new and returning characters that all seem pretty good. Are the side characters as developed as the party? No but that doesn't make them terrible or bland. Overall I enjoyed the story even if it felt dragged out.

As for gameplay it feels like a nice progression for the series. It retains most of the basics involving materia and basic combat. Where the main changes comes is with new synergy mechanics, essentially if you use enough ATB moves on different characters you can use special moves to give certain buffs (Extra ATB, Extra strong ultimates, unlimited mana...). Although you do have to unlock them using a sort of new skill tree system. I like these moves since they encourage using different party members. With this game having so many party members I was really worried about what party set up to have and if I would be forced to stick with that set up. Luckily the game both forces you to have certain party members during story sections and as long as a character is playable they get XP so they'll usually be the same level as you. So the game very much let's you and encourages you to use different party set ups which is great and helps keep the game fresh.

I should add that there is multiple open world sections with Ubisoft style objectives. I'll be honest I thought this was okay since all of is pretty optional and if anything it's another way to grind for levels that adds some variety. Even then you can just focus on the side quests to really get some XP and that should be enough to get you through the game.

This game is chock full of mini games, most of which I thought were okay. Me personally I found queens blood to be a fun card game focusing on card positioning which is a fun take. But there are a shit of mini games, which luckily most appear to be fully optional. I've seen some complaints about how difficult they make 100% the game which I'll be honest I rather have the variety than an easy 100% game.

This game is a hell of an experience that I think is worth going through. It really makes you appreciate the little moments.

My only experience with pre-RE4 games are the remakes but even just going with those you can really tell RE7 wants to be a first person old school RE game. I feel it does a great job at that, both with the atmosphere and gameplay. Most of the game is spent just exploring a disgusting swamp area that's dark as hell and creepy because of that. As for the story you follow Ethan who's trying to find his girlfriend that went missing in the game's area. Once you do find your girlfriend you realize you got to actually rescue her and find a way out. The main antagonist is red neck family called the bakers who are clearly infected\mutated.

The gameplay involves a lot of puzzle solving and backtracking to areas with new keys\equipment to unlock more areas. You do get guns to shoot but for the most part you are meant to conserve ammo since enemies do not drop any. Which as someone who mostly played post RE4 games is a nice change of pace.

Overall the game is really enjoyable, it feels great to explore and discover. It also has good tension with being set in a disgusting place and with you not wanting to engage with enemies. I should the 2 main story DLCs (Chris's, and Zoe's) are both great additions to get game that are worth playing.

After all these years I still don't understand how the multiplayer mode is so popular. Needless to say the single player is alright.

I've played other Monster Hunter games but this is the first one I got "Serious" with. It was very enjoyable and honestly I felt the game does a good job showing you how to play. There's definitely still a learning curve but honestly nothing insane if your willing to go through it. It was also awesome to see the series go multi-plat or at least go on xbox. I think there was some Monster Hunter Game on 360 but it was either japan exclusive or some weird MMO or both.

Monster Hunter is a series that as name implies where you hunt monsters, you hunt either the same monsters or others to get parts to upgrade your weapons and armor. For worlds their big changes include a grappling hook for basic movement enhancements (Where rise would eventually take it to another level) and big ass kaiju size monsters, that you walk around on (and do multiple tasks to get them taken down). I'm not sure the big ass monsters may have been in earlier ones but I remember these being a big deal.

The game absolutely shines in multi-player, it's easier to fight monsters and it makes it so more goofy shit can happen. People and monsters can get flung around, it's a great time. Also the good thing about the MP mode is that everyone progresses both in terms of story content and getting there own materials.

I can't wait for the next game, and thank god it's releasing multi-plat on launch

The most interesting thing about this game is being able to explore a decently recreated Chicago. Truth be told I never beat and don't plan too. Gameplay was okay but the story is just uninteresting with what feels like a boring edgy main character. I have head that the DLC featuring him in 3 was a bit redeeming for him so I might have to check that out.

The cultural impact of this game is insane. But I guess something during the covid pandemic was going to have to do it, and it was this one.

In all seriousness it's nice to see social deduction game get popular. Although it hasn't really resulted in more social deduction games or at least not deeper ones. Most games did add a social deduction game mode but that was it (and most of the time they had just as much depth as Among Us, if not sometimes less.), never really fleshed out into something more. Which sucks, I would love to see a game take a serious attempt to enhance or expand the genre.

Time for some lateral thinking, and time to learn a bit of coding.

The one thing this game still has over the smash games is the Sub Space story mode. It's an honest to god action adventure game which is just awesome. Even without a mode like that these games sale amazing so going through the effort adding that was cool. Seriously the other story modes of the other Smash games don't even begin to compete with this one. And the cherry on top is that it's co-op. Crazy stuff

As for the rest of the game it's okay smash stuff. Nothing too special. I know mechanically it's "Worse" than melee but I was never a crazy in depth player so it never bothered me. It was also nice to see third party characters finally added as playable fighters.

I don't know what made me so interested in playing this back in the day. Maybe because there wasn't a lot of stealth games back then? Either ways this game was alright, just gets VERY reparative, like I'm pretty sure you don't get anything new to play with or upgrade like a quarter into the game. And from that point on it's just following the same missions that lead to an assassination target. The story was at least unique since technically this game takes place in the future but you use a memory device to experience the past. Really neat idea that unfortunately made the game series story needlessly complex as time went on. Seriously I think the last couple of times I played the newer games I never got to the "Present" part of the games so I think they thankfully stopped doing it for the most part. Although I haven't beat an Assassin creed game in like a decade so maybe that shit pops up a lot in the end.

Well either ways I feel confidant in saying you can skip this and just play 2 where everything is vastly improved (Gameplay, Story, Characters, and Graphics). If you really want to see how the series all started I think that's fine, but you probably won't love it.

More than anything this game is interesting for being the first "Looter Shooter". Honestly what makes this game even more interesting is the fact that the dungeon crawlers it was based on were a mostly dead genre when it came out. Even the ones that did were mostly PC exclusive. So being able to get any dungeon crawler type game on a console was awesome enough.

The game itself is alright, shooting feels alright, story feels alright, loot feels alright, art is alright. Nothing done specifically well but for being the first of it's kind it has a unique charm and edge. I guess one thing this game has is a lot of content especially when it's the complete edition. So if you do like what you see there's more of it.

As for the "remaster" they released I believe it was mostly QOL of stuff which is fine, at the end of the day if you want a real upgraded version of the game you can just go for one of the sequels.

You can safely skip this if you want and just play 2 or hell even 3 although 2's main villain, Hansom Jack, is worth seeing.

I don't think I ever actually played these games until this remake. I've of course known about them and watched videos of them but it was nice to finally experience them myself.

These games honestly feel like the definition of 3D platformer in the sense that this is what I would imagine someone's first thought of bring a game like Mario into the third dimension. These levels feel very straightforward and not a lot of room to run around in but there's load of obstacles to get through and reach the end. It's also neat how a lot of levels have different objectives so adds to re-playability and depth. Also trying to break all the boxes is a very nice and simple second objective that's always feels great to try and go for even if you fail.

I will say all these games in the collection do feel mostly the same but that's because a lot of QOL stuff was added and it wouldn't make sense not to put it in the older stuff. The third game differently does add some curve balls with the special abilities there. So for the most part this collection is just going through a bunch of levels that luckily are all fun for the most part. There's some boss fights thrown in to add variety and they're all ok, maybe it would be better without them but they don't really out stay their welcome. One major change for the remakes besides the QOL is some physics changes which I personally can't tell since I never played the OGs but I thought it would be fair to bring up.

It's still worth checking out both for the fact it's a fun game but a cool history lesson on 3d Game design.

A silly little puzzle platformer. I found it to be pretty funny at times. Art and stuff is great but that's the case with all Behemoth games. Story is unserious but still enjoyable and cute as well. I played it by myself and still enjoyed but I could imagine Co-op would be a better experience. Also a ton of characters to chose from and unlock, they are all cosmetic but it gives you something else to unlock and work for. Also I'm pretty sure this was based on the Alien Hominid PDA game. I didn't like the mini game there much but I enjoyed this a lot.

I'll be honest the main reason you should play this game is for the story. Not to say the gameplay is terrible, the shooting and map can be enjoyable but they are held up high due to the story. I will say it might be tough going from 2 to 1 so I still recommend playing this first. I think playing this really helps give the characters you see in 2 more meaning especially since you know how it all plays out and of course the gameplay is improved in 2 (well at least for me) so going back to 1 would be tough.

As for the story you play as an ex-outlaw John Marston who has the law men back on his ass. The feds have his family so in order to free them he has to find a couple of his ex-outlaw buddies. Along the way you meet a ton of weird and interesting characters. It's also a great time trying to find and capture John's old friends. The voice acting really makes the characters. Seriously I think all the voice performance are top notch and really make you care for the characters. Slight spoilers, I will say for a straight forward story the end does throw a massive but well earned curve ball. It was also a cool choice to make the last story mission a bit hidden.

As for gameplay it's pretty straight forward third person open world stuff. There's no Ubisoft tower unlocking BS since that hadn't been invented yet so it's just straight forward areas to look around in or do missions. Also I think the shooting does a cool job of make the weapons feel old fashion. Like they feel limiting which makes sense for the time. It really makes it rewarding when you do get a semi auto mag pistol, feels like a crazy sort of upgrade. As for moving around your limited to a horse which can be a little dull but I think it gives the game charm. Graphicly this game ain't the best but I think as long as you play an upscaled version (PS4, Xbox Backwards Combability) it should look fine.

There is a multiplayer but it's really basic. Cool for it's time but nothing you need to go out of your way for. It was neat exploring the open world with friends and also it's cool seeing all the different character skins\ridable animals they had for MP.

Of course Undead Nightmare is also an amazing expansion that I wish got a sequel in 2 but alas we can't have nice things.

Needless to say I think Red Dead Redemption is worth checking out. If you really can't handle it skipping to 2 should be fine but it really is enhanced by playing this one.

2016

A good boss rush game. There is technically some parts where you don't fight a boss and do something more than walking but those sections are few. The main thing you're here for is to fight bosses. Luckily the fighting style is really fun and intense feeling. You get melee and shooting moves so it adds variety to both how you can fight and what you're meant to do. Combat has a nice rhythm to it. The visuals are a nice art style so they still look good. Character designs are also unique and distinct so even if you die a lot to the bosses it still visually pleasing to see them.

As for the story it's pretty straight forward. Your just trying to escape a prison. Different bosses are warden\guards\prisoners. From their you can try and figure out what's going on. It's not the main reason to play but I think it helps give the game some juice to it.

Fair warning the game is a bit on the harder side but nothing a bit of playing won't resolve. If it wasn't for the difficulty the game would also be relatively short, like if you're good enough you can beat the game in a couple of hours.

I very much recommend checking it out.

Probably the best smash bros around just by having so much content, as well as every smash character ever. The single player content defiantly feels lacking. Not that it doesn't exist, it just feels like basic content.

Also it was nice of them to finally admit to the concept of clone(echo) fighters of characters. Just wish they did more with them after release. Like instead of 1brand new fighter it would have been nice to get like 2 or 3 clone fighters. Although I think the DLC fighters we got were nice and have decent variety at least when it comes to mechanics.

I know it won't happen since Nintendo doesn't like to do it but it would be nice if they released a complete edition with all the DLC in a bundle. But as far as I can tell Nintendo has never done anything like that unless they port it over to a new console.

Still even without the DLC it's a fun game to play especially at parties.
