Might be an unpopular opinion but I think Logan (2017) is a much better pairing with The Last of Us than The Road (2009). I think Logan's arc with Logan initially not wanting the kid but growing to be like a surrogate father, is much more in line with what The Last of Us is thematically about, but people gravitate towards The Road because it's so superficially similar, but I think The Last of Us is more than just "wow wouldn't it be bleak if there was a post-apocalypse with cannibals!"
I'm also not a huge fan of The Road just because I didn't really know what to take from it aside from "Be depressed and abandon all hope for humanity" so that might be coloring my opinion here, but I really do think that despite The Last of Us' tonal similarities in many places, there is also more brightness in that game than many people give it credit for.
@Hot_Anarcocoa Thanks for the suggestion! I kind of forgot that Logan existed, just because my mind has started to block out comicbook/superhero movies due to the MCU flood. But I do remember a lot of people mentioning it reminded them of TLoU.
I'm also not a a huge fan of The Road, but I thought I ought to mention it because I've heard so many people compare the film with the game.
@MPK92 Thank you for all your suggestions! I decided to skip over the more obvious options because the point of the list wasn't so much to suggest games that are related to films but films and games with similar themes. Still, you gave me plenty to work with.
