A strange game in that, the initial 67-68 hours I spent playing it was an absolute blast, but those last five or so hour really drained me. It's not the kind of game that should be reasonably 100%'d, and that ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Otherwise, it absolutely rules.
Gris feels a tad shallow in its overall blend of how its themes interweave with that the player is actually experiencing. I never felt much of a profound connection between the two and it doesn't justify its visual elements much outside of it being that way for the sake of it. But regardless, it is lovely to look at and I adored the music. I even quite enjoyed its puzzle elements, and while I wasn't impacted much by its story, I had a lot of fun with it.
Cool game. Doesn't stand out as a platformer in function, although definitely most tense when leaning into the puzzle elements. Honestly some pretty clever/fun solutions in this game.
Its commitment to its "limbo" aesthetic both in art and sound design is pretty interesting. I could see the visual style growing on me but right now I mostly just have appreciation and that's all. I do really like the sound though it adds a lot to the experience. Those sudden moments when there is little to no sound coming out of anything and you're hearing this ambient drowning really hits the "this does and does not exist" feel.
I enjoyed that though :) Fun little game and I do not regret picking it up
