A journey of fate, love and family. FFXVI is a stunning game for the PS5 and is an absolute blast to play! It’s such a shame that’s it’s bogged down with its horrific pacing, characters that have potential but never follow through and an overall quite a mixed bag in terms of story.

The gameplay is fun flashy and fluid. Lots of play styles to experiment with my personal favs being Bahamut and Shiva. I enjoyed the combat but I could see it get a little stale by the end. The Eikon fights were a spectacle to behold but I find that 2 of them could have done by having some dialogue to up the antics and character writing.

For Story it’s a bit more messy. I loved the demo prologue and still do. The Eikon fight was incredible really pushing for that brilliant narrative we were hoping for. But then we get to fights like Garuda and Titan where the characters were afterthoughts. Luckly after Titan the fights remained crazy and had the story telling I was hoping for (maybe at the same level as Ifrit and Phoenix)

The lore in this game was fun but felt unnecessary at times as the story provides the details we need. But it’s cute to have this much detail put into its story. But it feels like too much at times and I felt overwhelmed by what was going on. But I still enjoyed the extra details that the Tomes would provide.

Now onto the characters which is why I love FF in the first place… A lot of them are sadly quite bland. I had high hopes for characters like Jill and Joshua. But I ended up being quite disappointed in the lack of actual character they had. Jill, Joshua and Benditikda being the main culprits. The potential with them all go down the drain (maybe less for Joshua)

My favourite characters were Clive, Cid and Mid. Clive’s character was obviously the one that had the most love and attention put into but I love the relationship between him and Cid! It’s brilliant. Clive’s reason to fight. His whole arc is great and I think he could be one of the best FF protag. Cid’s character is also just as great. Him learning from Clive and being able to see his view point improves upon Clive’s character and I love how they bounce off of each other in terms of character development. I just love Mid cause she’s cute and I felt had a great personality. I also quite liked Dion! He’s an awesome dragoon, he’s literally Bahamut and he had a nice arc which didn’t really satisfy me until the end.

Also how can we forget the best doggie Torgal!!

Personally the ending of the game is what struck me the most. It was built up to a stunning finale which had conflict which was amazingly written to portray Clive’s reason to fight throughout the game. Such a great ending that made me bawl the hardest in the franchise. This Star is just a great ending theme. XIV vibes were felt!

This game perfectly represents what Final Fantasy means to me. The way humanity will fight for what they love. The way Clive’s character truly kept his trust that humanity will prevail no matter what. It’s exceptional and one of my favourite endings in fiction.

But alas another journey will begin anew in due time.

We love the return of PS2 Platformers

A lovely game that celebrates the series while also bringing in loads of brilliant new characters and concepts that are tons of fun! Love Rivet and Kit and was kinda going insane over the PS5 stuff like the controller.

A nice fun ride that was a great palate cleanser for me

A pretty good Star Wars game! Enjoyed a lot of it especially the last couple of hours. Found the exploration and abilities you can get to be great fun to use but found that exploration isn’t as rewarding as it’s mostly cosmetic. I do think the pacing of the planets is really bad at times as I felt more bland areas got the attention rather than the more interesting locals.

Story is great highlights definitely being Bode’s character and the start of more lore on the high republic which is super interesting. Sadly do think that Cal’s performance is horrific. Very monotone and ruins a lot of great character moments as he doesn’t seem to convincing.

Overall excited to see what they do next as I hope it’s to do with a certain female character! I hope they do more crazy set pieces cause they were a lot of fun!

Such a fantastic finale to a wonderful trilogy. Xenoblade is a special series to me and seeing its Klaus trilogy come to an end makes me fairly emotional.

Xenoblade’s gameplay is like crack to me I love everything about it. Love the little additions of collectibles being added up to your affinity points which is very welcome for a DLC. But I hope it doesn’t go forward as a new tradition.

Story is of course great. Slowly building up with little character moments and arcs along the way and then it spirals into this massive epic at the end which is expected from these games and this one surely does not disappoint. I especially love all the nostalgic moments which Rex and Shulk kinda reference to.

Character wise this has an overall great rounded cast. Matthew is a great protagonist and delivers in stupid British lines which is ESSENTIAL for a Xenoblade protag. My favourite characters is a tie between N and Nae’l Both who aren’t playable but I loved how they added more characterisation to N making him an even MORE tragic character even after the DLC. Nae’l is a great character who is tackling with her conflict of living in such a horrific world full of fighting and death. Her arc is fantastic and tragic and when she eventually has to face the truth. It’s heartbreaking as we too can relate to wanting to live in an ideal world.

It’s great to see Rex and Shulk back too! Rex is definitely going on the zaddy list! I love their story with Glimmer and Nikol. Nikol is also another fav.

Music bangers. Loved the final boss theme (literally don’t know its name) and Aurora Shelf (Day) both being in my fav Xenoblade songs


If I had to nitpick about any of the DLC. It would probably be for excessive lore dumps that can overwhelm me at times and uh why does the chain attack music play even if the song is banging :(

I can’t wait to see what is in store for this franchise’s future but I hope it’s full of brilliant stories, characters and worlds to dive deep into!

10 years ago I started FFX and now in 2023 I have finally completed it.

This game is incredible. The world, story and characters all have so much love and depth put into them. Spira is a vast world succumbed by the spiral of death with a consistant tone that stays throughout the story and within our characters arcs.

Yuna is by far my favourite character in this game and in fiction in general. The way she is and her actions that she takes builds upon her character making her so relatable and real. I will say that every single character is brilliantly written and all of their arcs are great. No one in this cast feels like they are left out.

Music is phenomenal. A Contest of Aeons and Besaid being some of my favourite tracks! Uematsu and his other collaborators did a brilliant job at making this ost feel like it belongs.

I fully believe that everyone should experience this game and story.
