Played the PAL version of this for years with no clue that it was waaaay slower than it should be. Mostly we and my cousin taking turns. He'd turn of the Mega Drive sometimes because he was afraid "the music might run out".

Doesn't have the variety or visuals of 3D World but there are some brilliantly designed platformin' challenges, especially the timed and Cosmic Mario chases. One of my favourite Mario games, and I love Mario games. Mario.

I first played this when my cousin Gerard got a SNES for his Communion and he kept dying to Blargg so gave me a shot and I got further than him so he took the controller off me and I didnt get to play the game again until a couple of christmasses later.

My favourite fighting game. The netcode is still rough and there's a wealth of QoL features which could make the experience more slick but I'm still returning to this almost weekly despite playing SFIV for almost a decade.

My first playthrough of this, including defeating the Ruby Weapon, took just under 20 hours. I showed my pal Jim who was amazed but it turned out the clock was just fucked.

One time my pal Jim played this for about four hours and didn't save because he thought it was easy and then died to some basic enemy and had to start over.

I think I'm surprised by how short the levels are every time I return to this.

The Crawfish port to Game Boy Advance was an incredible achievement.

It's definitely the weakest of the Alpha games but it's still definitely fun against pals.

Really, really good. So good. Great to play with friends and family since the Mario Party-style chaos of the item balance means even lesser players like my friend Big Al can beat me consistently and unrelentingly.

The first game to show me I'd played for over 100 hours. Some very intense rivalries with pals and link cables. Big cargo trousers full of AA batteries.

I definitely didn't manage this back in the day so thank you, save states.

Wasn't a fan of the earlier games but I loved this one. Maybe because I'm an old man but the heft of Max as he slung his body around and struggled to haul himself back up was perfect.
