some of the worst shooting sequences ever made in a videogame, beyond bland characters, dialogue and setpieces.
it also looks like shit. although you should respect it's place in videogame history, do yourself a favor and pretend that the series starts with 2, skip this one.

the fact that uncharted 1 resulted on this makes no fucking sense if you ask me

serves the same purpose as postal 2 but with better violence and a worse story

all around competent game that was elevated by it's graphics (multiplayer was beyond sick too).

the moment to moment gameplay feels a lot less involved and rewarding than blood money (although i do appreciate some of the QoL features added) but the sheer amount of levels here and the options within said levels would make this just as good if not better than blood money but they made it always online for no reason.

besides some quality of life things that came with WOA, this has aged incredibly well. so many great levels here and this game feels tense which is a feeling that never happens on WOA.

my jaw actually dropped on mission 5.
what i liked: the camera is much less annoying than in dmc1, rolling/dodging has its own dedicated button now and the second phase of the last boss from dante's campaign.
what i disliked: literally everything else.

only 4 big complaints: the camera, the yellow orb system instead of regular checkpoints and the 4 last missions (secret mission 12 was genuinely better than mission 21).

i like the areas. i just hate the enemies in them (and adaptability). bosses are not great either. "soulslop" is a good way to describe this.

pretty underwhelming first half (not ds1 second half bad tho) but everything after irithyll is so fun.

ds3>
but that's only because the second half is unfinished and half of the bosses are complete jokes. this game is such a unique experience when compared to the rest of from soft games (havent played demon souls), the areas and bosses just play of each other so incredibly well, it's not a feeling they managed to capture in any of the later games (truly a turning point for them since it feels like a modernized kings field now that im thinking abt it).

this game deserves more than a 7.
but demon of hatred really soured the last 3 bosses for me, genuinely took out all the momentum of the game. 10/10 game from genichiro to the true monk (except the for the ape duo and the poison swamp gunperson) and i know sword saint isshin is the greatest boss ever but i was so drained when i got to him since i had just fought DoH and Father Owl back to back. skill issue ig.
