Gets better as it goes. The stuff where you get to be evil is a blast and it tries some stuff. Laying some foundation for the next game with the tag in stuff, but not done well here. Still a very static campaign but I do like the mad story — character stuff lacking and we are with the B roster to an extent (though the A villains).

The first half is playing as people I don’t enjoy playing as… But the back half is great. Endings are a cool touch if too brief in execution.

The reboot was a great retelling and reframing of past narrative. This is the best original work they’ve done — so far. Campaign structure a touch static but still solid and the narrative is bombastically satisfying, with decent character work.

First couple of worlds done. Some really cool platforming in here. Wall jump challenge 2 was so satisfying to finally pull off.

But, for God’s sake, get rid of the lives system.

Love that it won’t let you climb without safety equipment. A cool and important touch.

Ambient climbing stuff really fun; less fun where I am now and it wants to add a bit of challenge. It’s a touch unwieldy and doesn’t always do what you want. But it’s cool. Also, had an issue where I got near the top of a climb and then it wouldn’t let me grip anything, after having paused and unpaused. Annoying.

Propulsive and fluid puzzle solving. Everything tutorialises itself so deftly, a wordless masterclass in how to teach mechanics to a player. It also keeps surprising me while staying close to a defined gameplay language. Played through 81%, apparently.

Propulsively playable even if it doesn’t get the most out of its systems. Writing lapses in small areas but works in every big one. Characters are great to spend time with.

Really cool. Like the writing and the effort free skating. Maybe some feature creep but the combat — though repetitive — can be really fun. Enough mechanics speak to each other even if it doesn’t always feel meaningful.

This seems good. A solid XCOM like, or XCOM lite.

Slow to start, but that’s Persona. Don’t love the writing but do some of the style. Not wholly sold on the wider art style but the presentation is as slick as you’d expect from a P5 product.
