Bio
I'm mostly interested in unique ideas, themes, and mechanics in games. In my reviews I'm pretty willing to overlook a lack of polish if the game is doing interesting things and exploring new ideas. I tend to think most games don't deserve their run time and am preferential to shorter experiences.

Star rating is a mixture of how likely I am to recommend the game and how much it had an effect on me.

The actual gameplay of TS isn't pushing any envelopes, but everything around it is teeming with cool. Inspired by the over-the-top action of Bollywood movies, you don't just go down the stairs, you backflip down them, you don't walk around town, you skate doing tricks and combos.

The animation style is stunning. The run time is short enough that the relatively threadbare mechanics never got on my nerves. And the story is laugh-out-loud funny and heartwarming. You don't have to be a 2nd gen Indian immigrant to find the story relatable either.

Wish I played it sooner.

A cute, relaxing puzzle game sort of in the same vein as Unpacking. I find it to be fun to play in short bursts, but it isn't complex or engaging enough for longer play sessions. Some of the puzzles are a little bit obtuse but the hint system is fantastic.

I've logged a few wins under my belt at this point and feel like it's safe to say that if you liked slay the spire you should play this. It's more complex tactically and uses the (very good) Hades trick of tying story progression to wins in the game.
