Things I don't like about my favorite video games

Stolen idea from many users. Also doubles down as a list of favorite video games

It does a lot of things well and nothing really bad. That's its strength... as well as its curse.

In pretty much every department, it's outclassed by many other turn based JRPGs. If you don't come to love it soon, you'll find it generic and boring.
Not all parts are of equal quality. Examples given: Saejima's part, Shinada's gameplay, the finale (in terms of story telling).

It's also too big, which, granted, is its identity, but it may feel daunting for a lot of gamers.
Same issues with the original version, with the added bonus of non functional pool if played with a controller.
The monster catching aspect feels like an after thought at times. It's not present in the first act, only necessary during the early hours of the second act and redundant in the final act. 90% of monsters are too bothersome and difficult to recruit for no real reason. There's no way a Healslime is as hard to tame as a Great dragon.
The game is too linear, even with some branching paths.

You can tell from a mile away when battles are going to take place.

In retrospect, Mimosa's fight wasn't that well designed.
Most of the features, blocks and decorations have to be unlocked through side quests AND the main campaign, which is very lengthy.
The story SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. Most of the characters do as well.
It's REALLY slow. And long.
Rush style is not good outside of its evasive capabilities. Real Estate Management is not a fun minigame. Catfight is one of the worst minigames in the series.
You have to trudge through the first game, which is a bit hit or miss, to appreciate this game. Gameplay doesn't evolve from the first one.
It's too mechanically complex once you get past the basics. That in itself it's not a bad thing, since it's a fighting game, but it demands a lot from the player.
The game is still in its first steps, but...

The online environment is completely toxic and uncompetitive. Netcode could be better. Bamco focuses too much on the monetisation. Single player is an improvement from modern fighting games but doesn't hold a candle to the PS2 era.
Rooms suck. Netcode sucks. Sidesteps barely work (I suspect because of netcode).
The best part of this game is definitely the post game bosses, but you have to eat the whole story to get there. In terms of Kingdom Hearts, the story is very good. In terms of actual video games... eh.
The way the script is written makes it very hard to understand at times.

Because of the way class growths work, some jobs feel redundant.
The frame rate completely breaks once a certain amount of Gups is present.

Sometimes it's really unfair, and you get killed by things you didn't even know exist.
Story is actually mid save for the last act. Level design is boring. The only actual good songs in the OST are Vergil's theme and Nero's theme.
It's a very niche fighting game, it barely has a player base.
For a detective story, it loses the mystery too soon.
The reputation of the game is actually wrong, as it is very easy once you understand the system mechanics. And yet, losing because of Mudo/Hama from a preemptive encounter is not fun.
For some god forsaken reason, the bros. growths depend on Bowser's level, so if his level is too high, the stats of the bros. won't be as good.

This is never stated anywhere in the game.
Some of the challenges in late game are too difficult. Characters unlockable only through cheat codes don't remain in the game even if you save.
The game is too long and could have finished perfectly after Orochi.

You get stopped a lot of times during the story, to the point it gets annoying.
Kiryu's damage is absurdly low, even in comparison to the PS2 games.

There are too many substories, and some of them are not that good.

Golf sucks.

Karaoke songs are not good.

The story segments outside of the orphanage are bad.
This may seem unfair but the only thing I really don't like about this game is that it's a one time experience, just like many Shu Takumi games.
Gameplay can get repetitive.

Darkrai's fight is unfair.

You have to beat a good chunk of postgame to unlock evolutions for the starters.
The world doesn't feel as real as Dragon Quest VIII, looking more like screens instead of a proper interconnected world.

The exploration is too streamlined, to the point where you can only land on designated points when cruising or flying.

The game is too easy unless you activate Draconian missions. Draconian missions make early game unfun.
It's a Disgaea game.
Just like with SSX On Tour, some late game challenges are absurdly difficult.

Crash is not a fun a game mode as people think.
Tin Pin Slammer is not that fun of a minigame, and the fact that there's an extra mode based around it is idiotic in my opinion.
Exploration is gutted, in comparison to the previous games.

The enemies in the final planet are very punishing.
