Some of my favourite games that are very strange, and also a couple games that aren't my favourite. Generally games that grant experiences beyond what conventional game design allows.

I may not be a big fan, but I am perfectly impartial.
I'm going to be honest time has kind of made me hate this game but I cannot deny that it was the first to ask "What if our game was very hard, AND we took it really really really seriously?"
The game that inspired the much worse game, Cookie Clicker, which itself blighted us with the "clicker" genre

Walking simulator makes compelling emotional content from navigating an environment. This is a completely new idea.
I mean for real what even IS a game?
Game that makes you turn your safety off. Ends up being about learning patience and discipline. Also recommends buying a firearm as a treatment for depression. Irresponsibly based.
Billion dollar game that had you talking to people. Playing gacha. I don't know but I know people would want this on this kind of list.
I personally view thecatamites style as the solidification of "weird indie games" into coherence.
The games just fun, and they don't give a shoot. I just like this game I guess.

Important NPCs can die based on rng. Little to no information given about the consequences of players choices before player is forced to make them.
