Heavy Iron blew this out of the water.

This game WAS my childhood, even trying to ignore and move past that it's just one of those games that holds up after all these years, there's something about it. That unique charm thats hard to find anywhere else. The boss fights are cool, the levels are cooler. There's enough variety throughout the game to keep you interested enough.

This game was wild. I can't say I loved it but it was that special kind of "this is bad, but this is fun bad." Would I ever play it again? Not in a million years. An improvement from the eight pages but thats not really an achievement. The story sucks but the gameplay is slender enough. Missing the $20 mod though.

in all seriousness though, its a very shallow story that doesn't pull me at all. the new gimmicks are just that, gimmicks. It was scary as a kid. They tried to add some lore but at the end of the day its a somethingawful short story. That's all it ever will be.

Perfection, or close to it.

The graphics are beautiful, the music feels like its resonating off my very bones, the boss fights are memorable as hell. The story for what it is, is phenomenal. For all you lore freaks out there it offers even more. Theres so much to this little game its unbelievable at times, and the extra DLC content adds so much more to an already beautiful game. ESPECIALLY the godslayer DLC. By god. Perfecting every boss on radiance was one of the most exciting feelings I've had in a long time. The pantheons are so unbelievably fun too. I can't say enough for this game. It's the sole reason I got into metroidvanias and I need to say again. Christopher Larkin on this soundtrack was unreal. Pure Vessel is the rawest videogame track I've ever had the pleasure of hearing in-game. That secret boss was bone chilling. I love this game so much it hurts. Everything I write makes me remember another 3 I forgot to mention.

I have very mixed feelings on this. The story is great from what I remember, not much a fan of replaying it but I don't think I've done that with any GTA campaign. The online however is what I'm going to be mostly focusing on here.

It's bad. It's boring, it incentivizes ruining other peoples hard work and god forbid you lobby up with a K/D warrior. Those people are strange. However if you host a private lobby with friends its actually pretty fun! Especially with the extreme amount of custom games the community has made there's a lot of room for fun in a party setting, if you're more of a solo gamer kinda guy I'd recommend just getting this for the story though, online custom games are alright but without friends it can get boring quick. Solid game though.

This game has gone downhill. Bad, and I mean BAD BAD. The balancing is unfathomably horrendous. This doesn't even feel like the same game I played all those years ago. If the only enjoyment I can find in your game is fucking around in "Family Guy Zonewars" with my friends that is an issue. For starters, why in gods name are the snipers so bad. The drop and time to hit is horrendous for a gun that doesnt even one hit to the head, dont even get me started on overshield. Picking up a sniper in that gamemode is a detriment. You quite literally do what, 70 damage? With a weapon pool right now that supports an infinite chargable shield heal that is despicable. Shotguns have also lost their one hit property. It feels like the best strategy is to just sit far away with your 100% accurate AUG with insane DPS or the DMR thats slightly worse. Gameplay feels lame and boring. Add that on top of the fact the switch version is awful. I freeze and drop frames constantly and I swear to god I don't get aim assist. I feel like im going crazy but even the slightest tap puts my reticle way past the enemy. I don't like the game.

I love this game but this game does not love me. As a perfectionist at heart this game is the bane of me. There is so very much minmaxxing. From a beginners perspective this game must look like hell to try and learn, but having grown up with it for all these years its STILL daunting! I absolutely love it but by god is it a chore on my brain to pick up. If I ever forget to play on my file for over a week or two it feels impossible to go back because I have so much I need to remember again. It takes a very specific mindset to get into this game and I seldom find that. However I will add if you are a casual player, it's pretty fun! Don't let it get to you with all the stuff you can or can't have, just go with the flow and you're in for a treat. But for perfectionists like me it will take a toll. And a heavy one at that.

They did a very, very nice job at the storytelling. Taking what they started in Portal 1 into this they expanded on it in a very interesting way. I enjoy the level of vagueness it leaves for you to decide yourself how things truly are. Having said that however I feel it has lost some of its puzzle elements specifically near the later portions of the game. It felt more like I was navigating rather than actually solving predetermined puzzles, some people enjoy that but I do not. However those sections still ended up being my favorite due to the phenomonal writing by the team. Its hard to rate this lower than Portal 1 but I cant ignore these flaws just because its strengths are more apparent. I would still heavily recommend this to anybody who has already played the first game.

I cannot stand this game. I have tried time and time again to make it work but I just cant. The starters look so silly, the legendaries look silly, the story is silly and not pulling to me in the slightest. Pokémon from anything but a top down view feels VERY jarring to me, but thats a personal gripe. I get lost every single time I try to play again, and there's just this massive demon castle in the middle of scotland??? What??? I can't help but notice that thing and its annoying to look at. I tried playing with a friend and it took 20 minutes just to get things working because all the menus are needlessly complicated for beginners. I hate the gigantamaxxing feature beyond any reasonable measure AND those weird purple mounds look bad. The only plus for me here is seeing the pokemon walk around and that hot professor. I cannot forsee myself ever trying this game again. Maybe its just because the old pokémon games set such a high standard but I can't get with this at all. I can't even get my $60 back.

This game is an all-time classic. I somehow ended up forming an entire community simply because of this game, to say this has had a major influence on the course of my life would be an understatement. Obvious bias there due to that, but even just as a game it is so fun to just go back and beat every month or two. The level design is creative especially for a retro game and the enemies/bosses are just so fun to go up against no matter what playthrough it is. Flaws lie in the fact that some levels are just flat out annoying. Some are insanely hard if you dont have good reactions, but all around? I'd say its a pretty great game and worth the time to give a quick run through

I feel bad rating it this low because on my first playthrough it genuinely felt like one of the better games I had played, but to me it offers almost zero replayability. The side quests are menial, the shrines are bland and demonstrably simple and there are just so many of them, a lot of them are just straight up clones. the world just feels dead on a second playthrough, it loses all the magic it had when i was new to the world and everything was fresh. its awfully balanced to the point where you have to limit yourself just to have fun (im looking at you, great fairies). I've tried several times to play it again but to no avail, I just get bored. The NPCs dont help because they all just say the same one line, some of them have one funny interaction that never changes.

TL;DR, for a first playthrough its pretty good, but offers little for replayability. has damning flaws in the form of shrines and npc behavior.

i mean. what can i say that hasnt already been preached thousands of times since the day this game came out. its skyrim. its great. its immersive and relaxing and offers amazing replayability. Its 2022 and im still playing this game religiously. its something else

Short and sweet, yet another titan of its era, valve went out of its way to go from releasing shooters to dip their toes in the puzzle genre and they absolutely nailed it. This game is as close to perfect as I could call anything. Listening to the developer commentary post game made me realize just how much thought and passion was put into this game and you can feel it every step of the way. Everything you are taught is taught in such a smooth way that it doesnt feel intruding, the aspects of the puzzles are used so well as to where nothing ever feels like its over or underutilized, the writing is great and the storytelling is done in such a way that it doesnt feel intrusive or forced in your face, it genuinely feels like you are there experiencing it as the character. Amazing experience.

If I could go back and do it all again I would. I would give nothing more than to play this game from a blank slate of mind again. If you've never played this game I beg of you to give it a shot. The story is insurmountable. Nothing I have played has ever left me feeling such grandiose amounts of heartbreak and happiness. The music, writing, environments, character development, setting, storytelling. There's nothing like it. Do yourself a favor and buy this game if you haven't already.

This game is so close to perfect for me, the only thing holding it back is the entire campaign. If you are playing gears for the story this is undoubtedly one of the most boring, lame, unintuitive snoozers of the entire series. The characters are generic, the story feels like it was patched together as a cash grab and nothing they added at all even interested me in the slightest. I mean for gods sake i got stuck on a mission for 2 hours because I had to shoot an invisible wall due to a bug. Its horrible. But my god the gunplay is unreal, I have logged an insane amount of hours in the multiplayer of this game alone, and without a shadow of a doubt it has the best horde mode in the entire series. It is genuinely perfect. The role system is phenomonal and its just the right balance of arcadey but still serious, it adds so much variety to a gamemode that easily gets stale. I spent whole summers playing only this game and had some of the best memories of my life on it.

Childhood game, nostalgia buffs it even if it had some jank movement and camera control but its a product of its era, none of the future games even compare to the cast of villains from this. Obviously a titan of its time
